Just now trying to catch up with recruiting, since I haven't had the spare time I've had in years past. First off, how many are we taking this year, or how many can we take, based on numbers? I know it all hangs in the balance until after NFL declarations.

Blackburn looks like he will be the AD.

That is priority 1.

No 2 is get the S&C program back up and running.

Then you mess with some assistants.

So we're going to pay DeBord $600,000 then hire a high-octane Co-OC like Helfrich for another mil or so? We don't need both. And we certainly don't need to pay DeBord $600K to coach the OL.

One could name 20+ coaches or coordinators readily available who would be better options, but opinions are opinions. The fact that he received no major interest from a non-Power 5 school that can easily pay his buyout/demands is telling.

Not sure why that is telling. Butch knows he isn't getting fired. He would have to give up some money to get a deal from someone else. A non-power 5 is not paying that buyout.

It's all about timing. Whether people like it or not, right now, it's probably the best option for both sides for him to return. There are a bunch of variables that go into it.

We want to win football games not life games. If a kids a good kid great. If not but he can play that's ok too.Building good citizens is great as long as you win a Championship every now and then also

Of course we want to win football games. My opinion of Petrino is my opinion. He ain't coming, but if he did, I would support him, though it would make me feel a little unclean. If we are going to make a change, I would rather it not be him.

This. Just because it said he received"no interest" doesn't mean nobody wants him. There are probably only 30-35 schools who could potentially afford him and most of them have coaches in place. So the real list is probably 2-3 schools with open jobs that he would financially fit for.

1. Houston
2. Oregon
3. LSU- already hired a coach
4. Texas- already hired a coach

The way I view it is just because to openings that had the financial where-with-all to him and they are not, has no true bearing on his value in the CFB world.

So Helfrich or Applewhite?

I like Applewhite personally. His offense seemed much better than Helfrich's this year. I guess we probably couldn't go wrong with either but anybody named Major is badazz IMO.

West Virginia and Cal are the two that could potentially open up that I would watch.

I think it's pretty clear Butch isn't going anywhere. So in 2017, how many games does he have to win to be considered safe? And the other question is, if is successful, does he get hired away and leave us?
