I think others have mentioned it, but this season was a direct correlation to Butch's aversion to risk. We know he has, in the past, made decisions directly related to reducing risk (like calling for bubble screens and short passes to reduce turnovers).
I heard Swain talking about Butch's decision not to have his WRs and DBs do any 7-on-7 to prevent injury, and it seems like I remember there was an emphasis on reducing injuries in camp by using less contact, etc.
Couple the risk aversion with whatever is going on with strength & conditioning and we have a recipe for disaster. What happened to practicing so hard that games were fun? I agree with posters above that turnovers are a direct correlation. And we will never forget Coleman Thomas, injured or not, getting completely owned by a 280 lb DT.
Hopefully we go back to proven strategies and a new strength staff will make a significant change.
