Yikes

No interest from Purdue?

Did I misread that?

Not suprising considering he left them hanging last time and they can't afford him.

Lack of interest elsewhere doesn't have anything to do with his overall body work. It stems from his most recent game was an embarrassment and he has some bad publicity nationally right now. That is not something easily sold to a new fanbase. The whole point of a new hire is exciting your fan base. If he best Vandy and was headed to Sugar Bowl I guarantee you he would have gotten more bites on that hook

Butch asking for a raise and an extension after the Vandy loss is hilarious.

In a way but I think that was all in works before Vandy loss. So why would you not ask? Just like any normal everyday job. If you don't ask for a raise you don't get one. If you ask for one you at least have a chance at a yes or no. I don't blame him. He does a lot outside of Gameday as well. So while Vandy loss sucks balls it shouldn't keep him from attempting to get a raise

So we're keeping him for another year because nobody else wants him, or because of the buyout, or because the new chancellor & ad are not installed, or because he's really the best we could hope to hire and he's going to hire better assistants than he hired in the previous 4 years, bring in better recruits who won't bust, and win more games starting now?

"However, he is the absolute best option for Tennessee for the next couple of years. The worst thing that could happen is for him to leave voluntarily or involuntarily. There isn't anyone who is a viable, better option than Butch right now."

So CBJ's name has been floated for every available or potentially available HC job in America, with zero interest from anybody-- even Purdue-- yet he is the best UT can do? Hogwash. UT is not a third world country. Other coaches would want to come here and could do a good job, especially if we give them the $$ to hire the best coordinators and assistants they can find-- which is what we'll likely do for CBJ. Acting like a coach who wants to be anywhere but here is our only decent option is utterly ridiculous.

Ha ha! Don't get me wrong, I'm not a negavol. I'll be pulling for him and for the Vols and I'd love him to turn it around. I'm just calling it like I see it. I don't think he survives. But I'd be very happy to be wrong!

I don't view you as a Nega, I thought it was quite different than most of your posts. I have been in sales management all my adult life so i'm a firm believer in keeping things positive, if you focus on negative, you generally get negative results.

I also know if you're not getting the results you want, you have to re-evaluate and change your approach, which is what I hope happens..

One could name 20+ coaches or coordinators readily available who would be better options, but opinions are opinions. The fact that he received no major interest from a non-Power 5 school that can easily pay his buyout/demands is telling.
