A lot of people seem to want CBJ to stay and be somebody completely different. He is who he is. You either think that person with that system, that skillset and that temperament can win championships here... or you don't. Expecting a micromanager to become a hands-off delegator is a tall order.

I'm clearly not a butch lover, but I'd bet everything I own that Purdue would take Butch if he was willing to take a 2M paycut so they could afford him.

Agree with this, as well as any other lower tier school. If CBJ thinks he's gonna take a step down for a less stressful job while still making 4.5 mil a year, he may more stubborn than we thought!!

??

No, sorry.

Just voicing a thought on a message board about the Vols. My family has had season tickets since the 80s.

Just saying I've been contemplating not getting them next year because it would help me enjoy watching the Vols without feeling like I have so much invested. It's getting old investing so much time and money and getting small returns. I will continue to be a huge Big Orange fan of course.

I'm not sure why you felt like you had to respond in such a rude way, when you don't even know who I am or what is going on in my life. Apologies if I offended you in some way.

Don't worry about him, man. Many of us know who you are and what you stand for. I think there are many who can sympathize with you. It is a huge investment of time and money.

Why would he even bother shopping then? He'll have to accept a much lower salary next year regardless.

I'd take a Dabo situation, where he makes great hires at OC & DC and it's different. But we all know that would never happen.

I get a sense that Tennessee is particularly easy to recruit against. I guess it's because we've been down so long and instate players grew up while we sucked. Butch's last two years resemble the end of the Mark Richt tenure, but Richt's recruiting never fell off.

We really do need stability here. I think if we could ever get a guy in here that could get this thing rolling we wouldn't lose instate talent like this, even in the down years.

Didn't think we had lost out on Smith yet, can we at least wait until it happens? I don't think you fall into this category but there are many on here, I believe, hope it happens because they just really want everyone else to be as miserable as they seem to be.

I use to love to get on this site and read all the posts about the Vols but try as I may, 30 mins is all I can stomach these days..

Is Saban a hands off delagator?

As a matter of fact name one of the elite coaches out there that are hands off?

Sure. There could be positive change. But Dabo and Butch are different personalities. And a scenario that either keeps DeBord as OC or brings in a Co-OC to run CBJ's system isn't going to be all that different. Kiffin worked out so well for Bama because Saban let Kiffin run his own offense and make adjustments to fit personnel.
