My best friend from grad school is a huge Huskies fan. I remember our first year when they lost to Wazzu to go 0-12, he was despondent. Last night he got to see his team all but secure a playoff spot by beating the school we went to which is having a renaissance of its own. Gotta be pretty sweet.

Also, I'm wicked jelly.

Definitely arguments could be made for the Big10 winner being put in.

Personally, I would put Ohio State in.

Surprising (to me at least) stats:

It took coach Johnny Majors until year 7 to win at least 8 regular season games with the Vols. And it took until year 11 for him to win 10 games.

That's the problem. If you put the big10 champ in do you think they're any better than okl/ok state winner? Then if you put OSU in they can't even win the big10 why do they deserve to go. I think it needs to go to 6 teams. One for each of the power 5 champs and 1 wild card.

I could live with that. However, not until the Big12(10) has a title game.

No internet back then, if there had been every arm chair quarterback in East TN would have wanted him fired. Only one sources of Vol info, local tv (ABC, CBS, NBC), KNS or Knoxville Journal.
Also you did not even know who signed to play for the Vols until a week after signing day.

Seriously, back then they only played 11 games and did not play a FCS opponent every year.

This. It needs to be 6 or 8 to be a real playoff IMO. There are still too many valid points in favor of teams that get left out. Those virtually go away with a larger format.

I'm all aboard the 8 team playoff.

All Power 5 champs
Highest ranked non Power 5 team
Highest 2 ranked non conference champs

There are so many things wrong with that "conference" there's not enough time to list them. They cannot be take seriously at this point.

I wish they would make it 16 and go back to an 11 game regular season. Cut out the FBS vs FCS games, but use some of extra revenue from additional playoff games to support all FCS teams.
Also I would like for the top 8 teams to play their first game at home. Reward for finishing in top 8 and help fans for travel.

Yes different era for sure.

Def encourages me to reevaluate where we are currently.

Also if you want to make the playoffs, then play at least one Power 5 team (not Kansas) out of conference.

Really great ideas IMO. The FCS games are sold as helping the little guys with a paycheck. Why? If they want a bigger revenue stream their alum can kick in a lot more than that on annual basis to lift their status. There would be much more interest and revenue in what you suggest.

Which brings us to, I wish the NCAA would be totally dismantled and rebuilt. Corruption rules in that good ole boys club.

My 7 year old wears her orange every Friday before gameday and hates Georgia. We live in Atlanta. It's glorious.

My son when he was 7 and we went on a CNN tour one summer and was waiting on it to start and had been talking with the guide. As more people came, the guide was asking were people were from. Someone said Florida and my son comments that we hate Florida. Guide asked why and my son said because we are from Tennessee and we hate the Gators. After a few more, someone was from Alabama and you guessed it......We hate Alabama! Guide asked why and got same Tennessee answer. Guide states son, you got a lot of hate in that heart. We just said Go Vols! Got to raise them right. :):dance2::rock::hi:

Too bad our whole fan base is completely fine with losing

Not "whole". I know several on here that aren't. But I agree that apparently the vast majority are. They rationalize losing like crazy, but criticize those that point out the realities that most times the losing is self inflicted. Pretty interesting when it comes to understanding human behavior.

Participation trophies are given in primary school. Then the real world kicks in. Saban gets it.
