Unless Chip Kelly is coming with him, I'm not as excited about Helfrich. His Oregon teams dropped off because their O wasn't NEARLY as dynamic.

Wes really is the worst and he doesn't even do a good job. Man if Brice was that big of a dbag I'd still respect his work. Wes reads this board, I propose a we hate Wes Rucker thread where we just roast
Yeah, I don't know why everyone's gaga over Helfrich. Chip Kelly is an offensive genius as is, and before that, Helfrich was OC at Colorado which was hardly lighting the world on fire.

His teams dropped off because of defense, not offense.
He won quarterback coach of the year in 2010 and 2012 with two different quarterbacks and was almost won National offensive cooridinator of the year in 2012. Prior to Oregon his quarterback while at Arizona St broke the Pac-10 touchdown record and every Arizona St QB records. While at Boise State his QB won conference player of the year back to back in 2009 and 2010. And finally at Colorado, his first OC job, he put up numbers that a Colorado offense hadn't hit in years.
So yeah, I'd say we would be lucky to have him and would be a game changer.
How much of that was Chip Kelly? I believe he was very hands on.
The Haney article is spot on.
I know he used credible sources and I know who some of them were.
He sat down with the UT PR dept and gave them opportunities to respond, clarify, fact check and they dropped the ball.
Haney is not a hack journalist no matter what some of you want to believe.
Jeromiah Masoli and Daron Thomas in Chip Kelly's offense. I mean, I'm not doubting he's a good coach, I just don't think he's a mastermind; Chip Kelly was...
Probably because we'd be replacing a retired swim coach with a coach who was the head coach in a NC game 2 years ago.
Obvious upgrade.
Then don't be a coward and put the name to the quotes End of story!
Don't get me wrong, he'd be a good hire, but Butch's offense is what it is. Pardon my hyperbole, but I worry it'd just be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

This is why you need a strong athletic director over on the hill to prevent crap articles like this from happening.
Someone needs to keep the Knoxville media in check. They are a bunch of whiners that need some humble pie.
