So the guy we had coaching QBs last season is now the RB coach at CMU and the guy who had the title of QB coach is working with TEs, not QBs, at Indiana now.

Is Bruin around anywhere to tell us how fine we were at QB coach?

Poor timing since we are raving about how damn good Dobbs was. If Debord held him back our "village idiot" is correct as he should be in the first round of the draft.

Really sad the way the season went for him with wins and losses. Could have been in Heisman talk.

I really think the one horrible game killed him..SC. If he was not bouncing passes everywhere in that game we blow them out. And tgen you had Mushdump blowing his craphole about how their game plan was to make him be a QB..It looked bad on Dobbs. Mush rolled the dice and got lucky Dobbs head wasn't in the game that week. If Dobbs had thrown as well as he did in the other games at the end of the year. He would have massacred them.

lol fallacious arguments abound! Who could have expected such a thing from our resident wannabe insider/professor/recruiting strategy expert?

1. Not all QBs who put up big numbers get drafted highly (or at all).

2. You're crazy if you think our staff got all it could out of Dobbs in 2015 and 2016.

3. The previous point is different from "holding someone back."

4. Like it or not, it's telling that neither of those guys are working with QBs anymore.

5. Dobbs was not the only QB on the roster.

6. You're acting like 2015 never happened.

Dobbs developed greatly under Debord. His year this season proves it. It really isn't debatable.

Not sure why we can't just thank Josh Dobbs for all his work to be a great QB and the coaches that led him in that development.

His stats improved. Whether that was because of coaching or experience is debatable.

There's a lot of data to suggest that QBs who have 2-3 years of experience as starters usually can take a step forward as a senior. More than there is to suggest that Dobbs took finally took a step forward after 25 games as a starter because Debord and Sheridan were doing such good work with him.

lol Bruin of course you'd try to shift the goalposts and make someone questioning the coaching he received into being ungrateful for what Dobbs did here.

No it's a silly argument. We just had a QB lead the SEC in all kinds of stats and finish his career in the top five of Tenn QBs. It would be completely ignorant to argue his development wasn't productive.

Who's saying he wasn't productive? You're having trouble picking up what I'm laying down, bruh. I can break out the crayons for you're having trouble following along.

I'm saying that the following points are indicators that our QB coaching wasn't as ideal as you've been suggesting for the past year or so:

1. QB struggles in 2015

2. The fact that our QB coaches weren't highly regarded enough to get jobs working with QBs at Indiana or CMU

Additionally, I'm arguing that Dobbs' jump in production likely has just as much, if not more, to do with his experience than with any coaching he received from Debord and/or Sheridan. Senior QBs with 20+ games experience as a starter often seem to find that the game has slowed down for them. Call it Brandon Allen syndrome.

So many great players coming out for the 2017 NFL Draft its unreal. I just watched some film on Joe Mixon and was blown away. The guy is incredible. He should definitely be drafted in the 1st round and is a better pro prospect than Leonard Fournette IMO. Here is my big board as it stands for now:

D4H's Top 20 Prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft
1. DE Myles Garrett (Texas A&M)
2. DL Solomon Thomas (Stanford)
3. CB Cam Sutton (Tennessee)
4. WR Corey Davis (Western Michigan)
5. RB Alvin Kamara (Tennessee)
6. RB Joe Mixon (Oklahoma)
7. QB Joshua Dobbs (Tennessee)
8. QB Brad Kaaya (Miami)
9. CB Jourdan Lewis (Michigan)
10. DE Charles Harris (Missouri)
11. DT Caleb Brantley (Florida)
12. S Eddie Jackson (Alabama)
13. CB Marlon Humphrey (Alabama)
14. TE Evan Engram (Ole Miss)
15. RB Leonard Fournette (LSU)
16. DL Malik McDowell (Michigan State)
17. S Jamal Adams (LSU)
18. LB Jarrad Davis (Florida)
19. CB Teez Tabor (Florida)
20. DE Derek Barnett (Tennessee)

At the very least, very comparable careers.

Dobbs had the better rushing numbers, Prescott the better Passing numbers.

And Prescott played in the West, Dobbs played in the East when the east was as bad as its ever been.

I think Dak is on another level from Dobbs, especially in accuracy and decision making.

Maybe CBJ's future AD recommended Durden...

:hi:

Maybe CBJ's future AD could recommend a women's basketball coach that knows something about the game. It's a shame how fast Warlick is destroying what Pat built. All of that talent and sitting at 10-6 is ridiculous! She doesn't have a clue. Hire a competent AD (Blackburn) and let's end the experiment.
