Not arguing against that, but it's the owner's team. He'll profit off the move big time (at least in the short run), even if their games are empty as hell

Oh ya, TV money and revenue sharing is all that matters. I don't know the exact numbers, but I'd wager psl/concessions isn't a huge % of team revenue compared to TV. And I'm sure stadium is the biggest expense, so sharing that with another team has to make them a ton of money

Butch Jones' search for a quarterback coach continues. Jones has now interviewed four candidates in Chris Weinke, Mike Canalas, Kevin O'Connell, and Jeff Durden from Richmond. It's safe to say that Kevin O'Connell was very impressive, but most in the NFL feel like he's going to stay in the NFL and could land where ever Josh McDaniels goes as the two have remained close from their stops with the Patriots. Everyone that we have spoken with say O'Connell knocked the interview out of the park, but the fear of a quick exit back to the NFL may be a stumbling block

The safe bet at this point looks to be Mike Canalas and if you were putting anyone as the favorite, Canalas would seem to be the choice. Canalas has the most college experience. He's worked with Larry Scott in the past as well. Canalas' experience at the D-1 level gives him a leg up on Durden, who many see as a really bright coach. And recruiting is a concern when it comes to the NFL guys. It's also why many NFL guys aren't interested in college jobs when they really look into them.

Yeah corporate contracts are where the big money is, but thanks to seat licenses and luxury box licenses, the 49ers made nearly a billion dollars from their new stadium. Tv contracts and the like bring in more money long term, of course, but they made over 900 million in one year from seat and luxury box licenses!

And the chargers get to hop in and do the same for a stadium another team is having built. Pretty seeet deal for them from a purely financial standpoint.

"We told you last week that Richmond offensive assistant Jeff Durden was a name to watch. After some digging, we have learned that Tennessee interviewed Durden yesterday. We don't believe they are done interviewing candidates for the QB position."

- Austin Price

Durden has been very successful and would be a great hire for Butch. If he is hired and Scott promoted I could see Durden ultimately getting the OC position if Scott were to leave down the road.

Looking at his resume it appears he has never coached big boy football and he has been around long enough to move up the latter. I would take Canales over him and I am not a huge fan of him.

And for some reason I have a weird feeling that a very underwhelming coaching hire will be in announced today.

Remember Sunseri was a hot commodity at the time. The BAMA LBs had just dominated in the NC game. Underwhelming does not mean incapable. It ain't the coaches who play the game.

Tk needs to be more lean. Hope we don't get slow. I think it was Dooley last year we had some guys bulk up so big they couldn't move. McNeil I remember was massive and slow.

No reason you can't get bigger and faster. There's a reason most top sprinters look like NFL running backs.

While I see your point.. he's gameplanned and coached good offenses. He'd be an asset for sure.

Plus we would be hiring him as QB coach into so called big boy football. Not like he's being considered for the HC gig.

If our defensive tackles get healthy next year we will have a pretty good rotation of DE to choose from, got to think kongbo and Phillips will be starters with mixon and taylor rotating in along with Austin smith and Mcdaniel
