I agree and that is what I was saying yesterday, maybe a little more on the negative side and got flamed as usual. With recruiting sliding and this being a pivotal time with a lot of talent leaving, I would rather have a younger coach with a name kids can get excited about than basically a steady dinosaur who kids probably have never heard of or care about. Dorsey and Weinke are names recruits know and can relate to with their success and would go a long way pulling talent. Weinke has been a successful QB himself and is now coaching in the NFL... he has to be good enough just on those merits alone to get the job done and get some talent here...
I don't care what position a Wes Welker type would have on the staff, but you can bet it would perk kid's interest and get them on campus. "Hey 4-5* recruit, your new coach is Canales"... "WHO?".... or "hey, 4-5* recruit, did you know Chris Weinke and Wes Welker are now on the staff?".... "Really!? Wow, very cool... I may need to head down there and check them and the school out to see what it has to offer".....

100% agree

UT has the worst athletics programs in the SEC and among the worst in the nation:

UTC finished 107th.

A little perspective... This is based on Men's water polo, women volleyball, Cross County (M&W) and field hockey. Vols don't field teams in two of these but it does show the depth that the cross county and volleyball programs have plunged.

UTC is ahead because their football team finished higher in their division. They had no other programs ranked.

Isn't it based on football, too?

Nevermind. I see your second note about UTC's football team.

So from sounds of that VQ post, i take it we want McConnel but need assurances that he isn't NFL bound in a week or two when McDaniels is a HC. Canales is the fallback. Unfortunately odds are McDaniel does get 49er job and McConnel just stays where he is at unless he thinks college is where he should be

The sad thing is that adding men's BB, baseball, and women's BB would probably make UT's ranking plunge even lower.

At what point are we going to give this Champions of Life thing a rest? It's bad enough to hear it from detractors from the media and other teams but surely we as Vol fans can let it go..

Absolutely agree, I should have put "in before" in front of that post.

Agreed. And odd are the Patriots will continue to win for a bit, so this could carry on.

We suck at sports that nobody cares about (I didn't even know we had a cross country team) but are gonna pretend to care about cause we want Dave Blackburn.

I'll allow it.

On that same note, I can see the 49ers going with Shanahon if he becomes available first. NFL teams are always in a ridiculous rush to hire coaches when all the good assistants are still in it.

Dobbs limited our offense every bit as much as his ability to run saved it. He turned it over and he can't make intermediate throws.

The bolded has to do with the head coach and not the OC IMO.

Maybe so. I agree that Dobbs held us back in a lot of ways, but his sophomore and junior year, with that awful OL, his strengths probably helped more than his weakneases hurt. This year though, I can agree that it might have been the opposite.

And whoever decided not to run him frequently, they cost us. It was night and day difference when he was getting designed runs.

From Larry in FF on who the new AD would replace first between Baseball, Football, and Womens bball. Surely they would make a change. Holly is destroying that program.

I don't follow lady Vols but I assume they rather not buyout too much of a contract for that team due to lack of ability to make up for the loss like you can in football and men's basketball. I want to say I read something about she had a big class coming too but like I said i don't follow it. I would think they could hire someone decent now that they aren't technically following Summit.

Baseball is confusing as I don't know how Serrano hasn't been more successful beyond losing several key guys to draft before they step foot on campus

Agree.

But Dobbs being held in check usually happened in your Ohio, North Texas and App state game where we won.

Bama he wouldn't have made a difference. I think South Carolina had more to do with Muschamp knowing how to stop our offense and Dobbs.

Which of the sports have the loyalist fan base? They know the Lady Vol, die hard followers will continue to support no matter so they couldn't care whether they win or lose. Holly is safe because they are lazy and don't care.

And because they are a non revenue sport and they made the elite 8 last season.

In addition to recruits going pro, CDS went left coast small ball too long (3 seasons) and had his lunch handed to him. He began changing that last year with the hiring of Simcox. Think they made it through the draft with little loss on the recruits, so if he's going to make a big move it is this season.
