They also have 3 of the top 12 players in the country committed.

Which is the issue they have with firing her now. Great recruits. But if they play as a team like this one, they will not be any better off. She's had two of very highest rated players coming out of HS in Russell and DeShields and have nothing as a team.

At least Canales has extensive QB coaching experience, even if he hasn't been all that successful. Maybe if he can focus just on QB he'll be ok.

Right. Plus he would make sense on Scott also being OC since they have worked together before. People just want a "name" they know that may not be the best fit.

Doesn't matter… She could sign the top five players in the country every year, and continue to put out trash on the court. She is horrible as a head coach, and I will continue to stand by that until she can prove otherwise. It is sad that Larry thinks her job is the safest… She should be on the hottest of seats.

Well if anyone has doubts about Larry Scott being the OC I think it's blatantly obvious that he's the new OC. Not a mention of Butch interviewing other OC candidates, only QB coaches.

I feel certain this was the plan all along.

Auburn appears to be setting sights on Helfrich as Top OC target. gus plan was Briles and he was told they can't do it last minute. He wants Lindsey but being forced to look at outside options before being allowed to hire from his coaching tree. Going to be some made fans in here if Auburn gets him but he and Malzahn are apparently good coaching friends. I still think he stays out west or waits for chip though

Yep that's been obvious for a week or so the way everyone has described the search as a QB search instead of OC. I'm good with it as long as we make a great hire at QB. I think Scott has a ton of potential and he may can pull more guys at FL skill positions now that he is the OC instead of just TE coach.

Being honest, I wouldn't mind Larry Scott as our HC in future. In going back and watching his interviews from Miami interim and TN, he is very impressive. Kids love him, media loves him, boosters would love him. He is just that guy that can get along with everyone and what he did at Miami was very impressive as well.

I think the only reason he wasn't named earlier was just in case a big name popped up during the coaching convention they could possible name Co-OCs.

It will be the same situation that it was with us. If they want him they will have to give him very little, if any, of a buyout in his contact.

No intensity in the Lady Vols game the last few years. So sad to see such a proud program collapse. No direction home, like a complete unknown.

As soon as Hellfrich became not a realistic option, I believe the decision was made.

UT has the worst athletics programs in the SEC and among the worst in the nation:

UTC finished 107th.

I agree that it is bad, but numbers are a little skewed. All of our points came from football. We scored 0 each for men's and women's Cross Country, women's volleyball and women's soccer. We did not field teams for Men's soccer, Women's field hockey or Men's water polo. So, it still sucks that we were last in the SEC because we all field similar teams, but I don't think we're 113th overall in the country.

Hey guys I haven't posted anything recently because we've been getting settled at home (our furnace was out when we got home Monday night so we didn't have heat). Baby Rowan had a successful seven-hour pull through surgery to address his short segment Hirschsprung's Disease last week, and he shouldn't have many long term issues. I wanted to thank you guys for the thoughts and prayers.
