Thanks SBV- the search is beyond ridiculous at this point. What do you think is the holdup now if most of the boosters want Blackburn? I hope the recent endorsement from the Calhouns owner lights a fire under their rear ends. Leadership is so desperately needed in Knoxville. I wish Fulmer, Majors, Manning and others would speak up if they haven't already done so.

I wanna watch good football, not get warm fuzzies about our coach being a swell guy who doesn't put up with kids who smoke a little reefer

But it's not the coach. It's the institution. That is something that Butch has no control over. It's still not an even playing field.

But that's ok, let's just all give up morality to win at all costs.

If Saban really cared about their NFL future he would have a drug policy to prepare them. He doesn't. He wants to win.

At all costs. The man has never cared about his players or his employer. He cares about Saban and that's all.

The isssue is old guard vs new. Power play. Politics.

If any of you think butch kicks kids off for the first failed drug test you guys are ignorant. I would bet pig failed 7-8 in his time in Knoxville. Same with Obrien.

No one ever said that. But let's all repeat this: it has nothing to do with the coach. It's institution policy. A certain number of failed tests results in dismissal. Obviously, it's not the same at Alabama. Please let's stay on the same topic.

Most here don't understand the drug testing policy's of most schools and that article doesn't mean Alabama is doing anything differently.

Most schools have a policy that the first offense is virtually nothing and the second might include missed playing time BUT the trick is that is for each year. A senior could fail his fourth drug test and never miss playing time.

If that article is true (don't know), it said that Williams failed "many drug tests." If so, that means they don't have a policy that dismisses players. Or, they don't follow their policy.

I don't know the exact policy at UT and it's time periods, but also remember that DOB was suspended for at least a game last year (OU) and then dismissed this year. That would signify that it may not reset every year.

Edit: let me also ask. Who was the last player that was dismissed at Bama for what was probably failed drug tests? I am curious because I don't recall any in the last several years.

"Many" can be interpreted very different from person to person.

The second positive test at some schools doesn't mean missed playing time. I believe that is the case at Tenn but can't say for sure on that.

Here's the rub.

I have no problem with weed. As far as I'm concerned it's no different from alcohol which I also have no problem with in moderation.

I however have a great career that prohibits its use therefore I don't use it. The NFL has it as a banned substance therefore college teams should also to prepare them for the next level.

It's not about morality. It's about law and rules. You want to smoke weed, find a job that accepts it.

Bruin, I am not spending pages arguing with you. I will let you speculate about what "many" means. As a criminal defense attorney, this is what I do during the day. Don't care to do it after hours. Simply put, it's not a level playing field.

Lol. It's all good. I just don't think we should be throwing stones at other schools for our "strict" drug policy. That's all and good night!

I actually don't disagree with much of this. However, while law and morality aren't quite the same, I believe following the law is a part of having good morals. Morality involves good behavior, and breaking the law is not good behavior. We have laws in order to have a civil society.
