Seattle this year shows the catch 22 of the NFL and how hard it is to be good every year. You can build through the draft, but eventually players have to get paid and you have to make tough choices and hope your backups can step up.

Defensively they've stayed steady even after loosing Chancellor and some other major DBs, but it's hard to do it on both sides and we saw how their offense took a step back.

Or you could just cheat like New England and be good for 15 straight years.

Who will die if Jones is fired? Would you continue to fly on an airline whose pilots continually botched routine landings?

The point you fail to grasp is were in the critical phase of the recruiting season (hence the analogy to an airplane pilot). Canning a coach without a better option lined up to start the same day would be terrible AD work, but we've grown accustomed to that.

Anyone with half a brain who's analyzed the situation of our AD and football team knows now (or anytime over the past few months) would be a bad time fire Jones, no matter how bad you may think he is.

And whether you believe he'll improve or regress in 2017, it's clear he deserves the chance to right the ship and get things done.

The way they do things over there, they should fire Butch immediately. That will give them time to find a replacement right about the time he retires in 20 years

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the job Fulmer did as a coach, but I much prefer DB as our next AD. If there's no way to get everyone on board with DB then Fulmer would be my second choice. I want a Tennessee guy either way!

Might as well give it up, this guy hasn't been wrong on anything since I've been on this site. He is like a rubber ball, always bounces back with more spiel! Very irritating..

Yeah because cheating is the only reason they are so good for so long. if it will
Make you feel better just make money out of it. Past two years pats have practically been a lock against the spread or in a teaser/parlay. Maybe that's why I no longer hate them lol

That is not the only reason, but they have definitely demonstrated that they are more than willing to cut corners. I am still very puzzled by why they think that they need that extra edge, like filming practices or deflating footballs. Belichick is a terrific coach. He does not need to do that. I will say that they still get away with a lot on the field. They had to change the defensive holding rule because the NE DBs mugged receivers all the way down the field with impunity. Also, I do think their fumbles are up since the whole defate-gate thing came out. I suspect that they have been doing that for years.

Some points of interest I've been reading regarding the draft.

Have seen several scouts say they currently have an non draftable grade on Dobbs after watching his film. I assume some will have him as a late round flyer, but doesn't seem he's held in high regard at this point. Senior Bowl could help him some.

Have also seen several guys saying that Nate Peterman may be the best Sr QB in the draft this year (not counting underclassmen)
