Anything less than 8-4 for me would be unacceptable. I think we lose to Bammer and LSU, split with Florida and Georgia, and slip up once to a team Tennessee shouldn't lose to. I'll gladly eat a little crow if Tennessee wins 9 or 10.

I'm officially going to say 9-3 with a bowl win. Don't think it gets us to ATL but it might. Losses to bama, lsu(close one) and either georgia or (yuck) ky.

I honestly think we can definitely have an 11-1 regular season. Only loss coming to Bama. However, I think injuries will play a very big role in that. 11-1 if the injury bug stays away. 8-4 or 7-5 if it doesn't.

Remember when Bob Shoop was the best D.C. In America? Remember when he had top 25 defenses for 5 straight years with significantly less talent than he has at Tn? Remember when we all expected him to come in here and lead us to a dominant defense? Clearly that didn't happen last year because of many reasons. But why could it not happen this year? If Bob Shoop does what we all know he is capable of, and leads us to a top 25, maybe even top 15 defense, sky's the limit for what we can do this season.

Idk what it is but I feel a little weird about that Kentucky game this year. Could very well see Tennessee slipping up against a team like Kentucky or Missouri. Don't like being negative but Jones is just gonna have to prove it to me that he's a coach that's capable of winning 9 or 10 in this league.

Nope, doesn't mean he will just lay over for a freshmen either. Kelly is a talent, but Fils-Aime isn't slaw, and he knows what he is supposed to be doing. It's the same song and dance every year though, the new kid is always better than what is on the current squad.

I will be honest I'm waiting to see something from him. Like with Kelly you could see what he was immediately versus Kentucky late. RBs usually show something early(the good ones). We'll see what he does going forward.....

We haven't lost to Kentucky yet though with Jones. Vandy and Muschamp are his bugaboos.....

He's 2-2 versus Vandy and hasn't beaten Muschamp anywhere....

Of course, when it happens it is upsetting, but I always include an unexpected loss in my predictions for the season. Every team loses at least one game they shouldn't every year.

From Bama, to Ohio State, to this year's CFB Champ Clemson; every team loses to someone they shouldn't and I believe it would be acceptable to anticipate the same from us. If Butch was capable of keeping UT from losing any games we weren't supposed to every year, that would make him the best coach in CFB by far.

For those reasons, I predict a 9-3 season. We lose to Bama, we lose a toss-up game (UGA, LSU), and we lose one we shouldn't (UK, USC, Gtech).

Tom Luginbill, on the Sports Animal, says Florida is still very talented and has the best talent in the East. I have no idea where he gets that. Maybe last year that was the case, but they lost a ton of talent on defense and they still don't have any proven playmakers other than Calloway on Offense. And, their QB situation is more unproven than ours, IMO.

After some research, per Rivals ratings here is FL's two deep broken down.

TN and GA coming.

When we get a three star recruit from Florida ranked around 1000, a lot of people boom because "Florida HS competition, man." Ok, fine. But UF has an entire roster of guys who played HS in that state, so if you subscribe to the HS competition theory, well, there's your answer.

You better believe I know what his record is against Muschamp and then Vanderbilt. Still pissed about those losses. Losses like that are why I hesitate to think he's capable of leading a team to a 10 win regular season. As much as I'd like to believe he can, I'm just gonna have to take a believe it when I see it approach. This year will tell all for Jones IMO.

I mean I didn't see anything last fall either. He's a RB and didn't show anything even when given space.

Heard the same thing about Kelly from others (not you of course). He was dinged up when he reported as a freshman, which is part of being evaluated. I don't use that as an excuse but as an unknown quantity, err on the side of potential...not being a garbage time superstar. One criticism I'll allow on Butch and staff, he basically shut down any hint of scheme during our rare blowouts. Judging Dormady, any of our young receivers and yes, Fils-Aime based off that is an exercise in futility. Hopefully that changes because those are teaching opps that have been lost.

Now here is our VOLS...much better experience and talent IMO just looking at raw data from an impartial site with projected depth charts.

Well Kelly was showing very well closing Kentucky out late in that blowout. His burst was apparent immediately. For a small back like CFA his burst needs to be noticeable. IMO I was looking for that out of a dude who won't overwhelm anybody with size or power. Didn't show to be extremely shifty either so what should I be waiting on from him?

Sorry for the continued off topic convo, but I am a huge fan of fantasy, and I have read quite a few series, including g ASOIAF. While Martin's writing is wonderful, I have to put a plug in for my all time favorite series, Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. It is by far the most epic and awe-inspiring fantasy I've ever read.

I'm actually glad you plugged it so I can put it on my list. I love fantasy but the genre is in desperate need of better writers. It has plenty of great storytellers but not enough really good writers.

Try waiting for SOMEBODY as a change-up...instant grits man!

I'm with BB on Fils-Aime, unfortunately. Hope he proves otherwise, but until I see that I don't expect him to be an impact player and that's absolutely fine. I am, however, not with BB on Dormady. I think he is absolutely capable of leading this team to a successful season, while I am still as high as anyone on JG and think his ceiling is ultimately higher. Perfect situation for a 2 QB system IMO with Dormady playing the leading role this season until JG hopefully forces Butch's hand to play him. Also agree with Chief Vol and others on Butch. Prove it this year by not dropping a game we are favored to win and should win (ex. Vandy/SC)

That ain't me.

I'm just a big believer in Chandler.
