IF you believe what LWS posted about Tennessee pissing off a lot of coaches with the dog and pony show it put on during the Kiffin hire then some of this makes a little more sense. UT admin is viewed as incompetent by several coaches. It's had some time and I believe Tennessee is viewed as a much more stable situation for assistants.Mike Griffith expressed a view a week or two ago on the SEC Country Podcast that Butch has been able to upgrade his staff because of how much success he's had lately. He implied Butch had a harder time hiring when he first got here because of how bad of shape Tennessee was in. It wasn't attractive to assistant coaches.
Not sure how accurate that is, but it seems plausible.
Strong argument can be made for John Henderson imo. His junior year was about as good as Suh's senior year. Outland award, 2 time all-American, 2 time First team SEC.
Although idk he would be allowed since he started in the 90's.
Never fails the kids that claim they don't want to go certain places because of the position end up changing positions. It's almost like clockwork.
Stevens went to LSU because of its history of DBs and didn't like how some like TN wanted to use him. Now he is already a WR.
Hardeman was sold a bag of dicks about his potential at CB only to realize Kirby and Pruitt both were FOS and planned to have him at WR all along.
Kamara went to Bama and didn't listen to everyone telling him they would play him at WR. He learned that lesson after freshman year.
List goes on
