He's pretty fast actually. But I wouldn't use their offensive production lately as Exhibit A of a successful zone read offense.
He ran for 163 yards last year. Kamryn Pettway ran for 1200 in 9 games and their backup ran for another 800 while dealing with an ankle sprain.

Their offensive production was fine until White hurt his arm and basically couldn't throw the ball.

Well that was my point. It was a read option offense that was mostly ineffective because the qb never kept it. On the rare occasion that he did, you could see the DE and LB freeze for the next few plays.

Right, so Dormady has to keep it 5-12 times a game. Doesn't have to set the world on fire, just threaten the D enough for that hesitation.

They scored less than 20 points in half their games. Again, I'm not saying you'll lose every game, but you're not going to Atlanta with an immobile qb in a zone read offense.

That's best case with Dormady if we keep the zone read, yes. My OP was saying we should adjust the offense for Dormady if he's the guy.

Already been threatened by Jr 😂. He's afraid I'm going to embarrass him.

Litaker not having a good day. Very average looking right now. Man lined up in front of him holding his own and DL outweighed him by at least 50 lbs.

It's not a guarantee that a slow qb will always get yards even if the D keys on the RB and encourages the qb to keep it. If it were that simple and mathematical we'd be 75-0 under Butch.

How fast does the QB have to be to gain a few yards on a wide open play? And I fully believe the coaches didn't want Worley to keep it for fear of injury. Same as when it seemed like they wouldn't let Dobbs run. Just make the D hesitate.

There are different levels of how well it works, depending on how good the QB is for sure, but like I said earlier, the offense isn't dead in the water without Dobbs or Cam Newton running it.

Never said dead in the water. Said we won't be in Atlanta with an immobile qb running a pure zone read. Hope we adjust if Dormady is the QB

Haven't both Scott and Jones said they'll adjust the offense accordingly to whoever earns the job?

Sounds like the coaches are prepared.. maybe we should trust 'em.

LOL it's the opposite of what you just said. In the zone read, the RB is standing still when he gets the ball instead of running toward the LOS. He never has to find the qb, he knows from the play call where the qb will be handing him the ball.

I'm so confused. Why does it matter where the RB gets the ball? Can they run that much faster without it? That doesn't make any sense. Of course, the RB knows where the QB will be, but he still has to focus on getting the ball then look upfield. From shotgun, the RB gets the ball earlier in the play and can keep their eyes upfield at all times.

Dormady out here throwing darts:
