Probably guessing that he isn't and he has two years of eligibility...and an unburnt redshirt. Seeing Boulware and Trey Smith in several projected starting lineups and THOSE are the ones with Robertson at center. Can't blame a kid who's waited beyond patiently who wants to play.

I haven't seen anyone be projecting Boulware to play over Jones

I think we have another classic case of an idiot in the FF making up a rumor and then the other idiots in the FF jumping on board.

They're the reason for the Knoxville media...

Yeah, this is the only thing he posted since:

"247 talked about it vaguely earlier in the week. Just putting a face to the story they started." - VFL10

For me, and it was like this with Jalen Hurd last year, this stuff gets too close and personal to the players. We can be fans, and we can try to inhale all the nuggets of info we can to estimate what Team 121 will look like, but WE'LL NEVER KNOW THE COMPLETE PICTURE. That's for Jack, Butch, Jack's parents, and only that inner circle to know. We're overstepping as fans when we start swirling rumors like this around on a message board. Posting stuff like this is like tweeting at recruits. JUST DON'T DO IT.

This story is unfortunately true. Jack fell in love with a Vietnamese girl while spending part of his summer there for the VolLeaders program. He wasn't returning to Knoxville but Kyle Phillips called Butch and explained what was going on. Butch talked Jack into coming home but promised he would get the girl to Knoxville. Trump introduced new immigration law and Butch could no longer hold up his end of the deal.
I choose to believe this story

Yeah I remember them mentioning he missed practice 2 which is why he wasn't in shells yesterday.

Granted, it is 247's job to make you come to their site and stay there, but we as fans should leave that stuff to the coaches, players, and families.

Takes me back to the ridiculousness of Butch gut punching someone last year.... Really? Lol

You're addressing a different point than the one I'm making. The OL blocking scheme is irrelevant to my point. It's my fault for initially using poor terminology.

Whether the play is a designed handoff or a read option is irrelevant to my point. If we run every single play from shotgun and the RB is next to the QB, and therefore our RB never get a running start toward the LOS, we need the defense to believe that the qb is a threat to keep the ball.

I think the gist of your argument has little to do with the zone read or with some blocking schemes.

It seems like more than anything you just don't believe that a team can have success running from most shotgun formations unless the QB runs well.

And with the right QB, RB, and a good OL that's just not the case.

As for Jones, I can understand the frustration. Just a few thoughts on the situation.

1. Wiseman and Kendrick (I think...it was two of them) nearly quit during camp a year or two back (I think 2015). They eventually came back to be contributors.

2. A family member of Wiesman posted on one of the boards about how more than PT went into the decision. Football takes a lot of wear on men's bodies and we as fans don't always know the extent of that.

3. I hate it for Jones that he wasn't able to get a redshirt. He could potentially be a senior before a spot opens for him on the OL.

4. That being said, building a good team often means bringing in a lot of guys with good potential, having them duke it out, and going with the guy who wins the position battle. When you recruit on the OL the way we have the last few years, you're going to see some attrition eventually. Bringing in a guy like Trey Smith who seemed/seems destined to take a spot on the OL somewhere from an upoerclassman means we're likely to lose a guy he jumps on the depth chart at some point or another.

I haven't seen many projections from the media at all really.

Jones is a fan favorite of course, but that LG spot has been one to keep an eye on since the spring and figured to be a great battle in camp.

I agree. The only projections I've heard have been on VQ podcast and if they had Robertson starting at center they had Jones at Lg. Maybe that's not the way it looks internally tho if this is true

In Atlanta the AJC has Dawgnation which never has anything negative to say. It is supposed to be enjoyable for UGA fans to read. The main columnists for the AJC like Mark Bradley, even when he is criticizing UGA, will talk about the positive things in relation.

Yep..without a doubt we have the absolute worst media in CFB.

Palmer has a bumb knee per Brice.

Yeah, during Callaway's post-practice interview last night he was asked about Palmer and how he was doing. Callaway said he was doing great, making plays and always asking questions. Then, Callaway just casually said that his knee keeps giving out. No further discussion about it or how serious this may be.

So we brought in a guy with a busted knee? Great
