I personally said screens......

Get your fastest guys the ball in space and let them work.

And I will say this, if they are better play them. They are big plays waiting to happen.

I agree. The best need to play. I was talking about chiefvol saying he isn't a difference maker. Without Smith we don't win those two games.

It's like people forget we had Jrm, Sutton, Sapp and Kirkland out vs UF and Uga too. That's 3 of our top 4 LB's, 3 of our 4 best defensive guys, 2 of our captains and still beat both of them. Out of that team we lost Malone, Croom, Dobbs, Kamara, Hurd(he hurt us just as much as helped in the Uga game), Barnett, DOB. We have proven player(s) behind every player we lost except Dobbs. I'm not sure how people think we go 6-6, especially since we upgraded multiple coaches on the staff

We also lost Austin Smith early, so that was another LB that was supposed to get some significant PT that was lost for the season. Then we lost McDowell in the ATM game and he missed the Bama and SCjr games. I don't remember ever seeing an LB corp decimated like that

Randy Shannon doesn't send help with LBs is what I'm saying. They are thin up front and don't have monstrous pass rushers.

That's still not much of an answer to what I was asking lol where do you expect their defense to fall in the SEC (or nationally) this year? Do you really expect them to be bad?

Hoke had nice things to say about Alexis Johnson. Also sounds like CFA is doing well per the practice reports. Also sounds like Vickers is gearing up for a very nice senior season. What a find he was.

Umm...he sure as heck made a difference in the UGA and Florida games..

I may be wrong, but I think BB is just trying to say that Smith isn't a potential game breaker in the same way guys like Byrd or Williams have the potential to be. There's just a difference in athleticism.

That doesn't mean Smith can't make big plays and help us win games, of course. But his upside isn't quite the same as those other two.

I just can't remember our passing game ever looking this polished during the cbj era

Bray would kill some worms in Fall camp on you...then turn it up during the season. Lane Kiffin's lone camp was cringeworthy for passing aficionados...it was tolerable for what the FUTURE held. Not remembering any Fulmer camps when errything was humming like a fine tuned machine...maybe somebody else has a different recall?

Thank you, Smith isn't a dude you gameplan to take away. Doesn't mean he can't make plays. But if you're a defensive coordinator who do you take away Jennings or Smith? Not dogging Smith or anything but he needs to be used on medium routes and things. The young WRs are all more athletic than he is and more dangerous in space. Smith will do well operating some out of the Slot. Now I'd hope Calloway was the No.2 guy personally. Has the size and Speed to create havoc.

Lot of good reviews on the WR's. Excited to see Callaway, Palmer, and Lattrell Williams.

Think we'll see a lot more playmakers at WR, now that Azzazni is gone.

Fulmer said in '98 when asked by Dickey how the team looked "Doug will you still love me if we don't win a game?"

Dickey's response "Sure Phil I'll still love you.... going to miss you around here but I'll love you".

My issue with Josh Smith has always been his catch rate.
