Like him or not, Dormady can throw the ball. I don't think he has to be able to run to captain this offense. He moves decently well in the pocket from what we've seen. It's his decision-making that will determine his fate, IMO.

If he gets ball out quick like he can he won't need to run around anyway

I don't see the "pass rush specialists" aspect. The closest to that bill would be Taylor, but he ain't a 220 pound HS receiver anymore...more like a 250 lb Simeon Rice doppelgänger. Both Phillips (depending on if he backs up Taylor or starts at weakside) and Kongbo are former DT fill-ins on the other side and aren't going backwards when they meet a runningback. We've all seen pics of true freshman Matt Butler and they don't scream beefed up linebacker. We got some loaded up boys on the edge imo.

Butler could be big for us here. Taylor, phillips and kongbos strengths are getting after the passer. Kongbo was moved inside last year out of necessity but also because he wouldn't stay in his lane. He can't do that this year. Kongbo and Phillips have ability to play both but my point is they are all known for their pass rush skills not their run game. I'm just saying it's a valid question mark for this season. We will be fine up middle if healthy. My worry is bouncing to the outside. Will those 3 be able to consistently hold up and stay in their lane for 4 quarters. They aren't the biggest guys and we haven't seen their durability tested yet

I don't think they are "known" for anything yet. But I don't get why you think they "aren't the biggest guys"? Kongbo is 6'5" 275, Phillips is 6'4" 265 and Taylor is 6'4" 255 or so. How big do you think a 4-3 DE needs to be? And all three are bigger and more athletic than Vereen.

I get having concerns because they are unproven, just don't get the "pass rush specialist" opinion.

True freshman offensive tackle K'Rojhn Calbert will not play in 2017.

Calbert will miss the 2017 season due to a pre-existing knee injury, Tennessee officials confirmed to Volquest.com. Calbert was likely to redshirt this fall, but with Chance Hall's season-ending injury, the McMinnville (Tenn.) native became more important from a depth standpoint.

Now, Calbert will redshirt and likely require surgery on the pre-existing injury.

Calbert's rags-to-riches football career has been well-chronicled, as the 6-5, 316-pound lineman missed two seasons at Warren County High School due to knee injuries. With a ton of untapped potential, Calbert drew early favorable reviews from offensive line coach Walt Wells, who acknowledged that Calbert is really raw.

“K’Rojhn is a big, athletic and strong kid who’s never played a lot of football,” Wells said in assessing Calbert earlier in camp.

“He’s learning everyday, and the thing that’s really surprised me with him is how quickly he’s learning. He’s doing a nice job with that. We’ve got to continue to push him. He hasn’t seen a lot of different things from our defense yet, so his head’s exploding a little bit, but he’s doing a good job.”

Calbert is expected to be full-speed for next spring.

I'm no doctor but do these situations ever work out well? 3 major knee surgeries is a lot to overcome. I guess if it isn't a degenerative condition that makes a difference.

Rarely. What is also working against him is that he hasn't been playing football for very long. He has a lot to overcome.

2/4 losses between UGA, LSU, fl, bama and win the rest, assuming average injury attrition and no East title...

Acceptable or not?

How do we not win the east with this record? Possible combinations

W UGA and FL, L to Bama and LSU=win the east
W FL and Bama, L to LSU and UGA=could win the east, but beat Bama so yeah
W Bama and LSU, L to UGA and FL=Lose the east, but again, yeah
W LSU and UGA, L to FL and Bama=could still win the east

Did they change the rule that division record is more important than conference record?

How would we feel if we beat Bama, LSU, UGA and FL but lost all the rest and went 4-8?

I don't think east/west losses matter. Its conference losses, right? We could go undefeated in the east, but if we loss both our west games and another east team only loses one conference game total then they go. I may be wrong.
