I think we're in the best position right now with DE and S. With Austin Smith sliding down we have 4 potentially viable DEs. We all know the top 4 guys at Safety. So we need one more for each group. There's some buzz that we may already have an idea who those guys are.

I think we have a lot of options at LB but yesterday Butch said Sapp was still limited so scratch that for now. Still, I sort of think we'll be okay at LB, numbers-wise.

CB/NB we have a lot of options so we'll see.

DT, like others have said, is a concern and I'm not counting on Shy - so Kmac, Vic, Pic, Alexis, and a freshman. That's what we've got. It could work. Shy was a freshman once and better than anyone else on the field. DB was a freshman All-everything. We'll see. I'm really glad Brady's got this. :)

Using recruiting rankings to "rank" a current team's talent is a very flawed way of looking at things. First off, the recruiting rankings are constructed by a group of individuals with little to no actual football coaching experience. If these guys were top notch scouts, they would be hired by the actual teams. Secondly, by using this measurement, a guy like Dontavius Blair, Dillon Bates, and Gavin Bryant would be adding more to a team's "talent ranking" than guys like Cam Sutton, John Kelly, and Jashon Robertson. The better way to measure talent is by what the players have done once they begin their college careers. Too much inconsistency in recruiting rankings for it to be an accurate way to measure a current team's talent.

Agree.

People underrate his athleticism and he moves well in the pocket.

Great arm and can throw accurately off different platforms as that video shows. Not sure where the hate comes from.

Imo he's jumped around too much to be a big help. Should have picked a position and stuck with it. Hope I am wrong but I think he is nothing more than a depth guy

I agree. He's always been a LB, not sure why they wanted him at DE.

Great athleticism and has trimmed down from reports. I think he'll have a very good year.

Originally thought same but having seen him in Lb drills videos compared to others and it's clear there is another level of explosiveness in his drill than others. I think they decided during last year that he would make this move so he has had time to get back into place. He looks much more explosive than I even thought he would be coming out of HS.

I want a team and a staff that doesn't play it conservative. Go all out all the time and try to win. Be the aggressor.

Don't say we need 24 to beat this team and only aim for that. Things during a game change. Score as many as you can and let the defense do it's job.

My concern in defense this year is going to be defending the run. Our DEs are pass rush specialists at least that is my perception of them. What could make up for it is the increased speed in back 7. A healthy Kirkland. A slimmer Cortez. The return of Sapp and Smith. Bituli in the mix. Nigel added to S.

Doesn't look like a statue to me. Granted most of his highlights are against lesser competition but the boy is accurate and can straight sling the rock. If he wins the QB spot I will be psyched even more for the season.

Conversely, if JG comes out on top then I will be even more excited because if he beats out the older more experienced Dormady then.... wow. Hold on to your butts!

With only 2 LBs playing most of the time I don't see much chance he plays much other than game 1.
