I'm torn about that Griffith article.

I hate seeing him write it, honestly. It's pretty damn harsh.

But at the same time, I don't think that scout is necessarily wrong about some of our players. Wolf has struggle with blocking. Some of our secondary guys have been really inconsistent with tackling and getting off blocks. Our DL got pushed around by App State last year.

Hopefully our coaches and players see this and use it as motivation. Hopefully Rock has toughened them up a bit through S&C and the new staff member have toughened up their play style. Toughness in football is a mentality more than anything.

I pretty much agree with you here. There is an obvious reason why Butch and crew have made "DAT" a focus this past offseason. Hope Wolf uses this story to motivate and silence the doubters.

I don't know, man. Notre Dame only won 4 games last year and lost their QB to the NFL. Georgia had some terrible games and some good games last year, but they weren't as bad as we make them out to be. On paper they should be the favorite to win the east.

Florida on the other hand should be decent to good, but this dark horse playoff contender talk is crazy to me.

For me, it's not if the things he said are 100% true, false or even in between. It's that his job is to find talent, not trash people he doesn't think are good enough.

It's like if you were judging science projects. But instead of trying to find the winners to move on to the next level, you went and told this NFL scout that his son seemed too stupid to participate.
Just no reason.

I like that it was posted and hope the team sees it. Bring on all the hate they can throw on, I think this team is going to respond.

I was listening to Ainge's podcast from yesterday (this is before the story of being soft) and he and Brian were going through the numbers and essentially Ethan has a really good chance, if he can stay healthy this year, of setting the records for TE receptions at Tennessee, total receiving yards by a TE at UT, and total TD's receiving by a TE at UT. In order to pull that off he doesn't really need to have that much of a better season than he had last year. Ainge has been really high on Wolf since fall practice started based on what he's seen of the practices.

Not if Hurd hadn't been showboating on his way to the end zone. And if it wasn't for our cb quitting on the play just a minute before we still would have won.

To be fair to Foreman, I don't think he quit on that play. Ridley did a good job of baiting him into slowing. Ridley slowed down so Foreman slowed down, then Ridley accelerates quickly and gets a step or two on Foreman and there was not enough time for Foreman to catch up in that short of space. I thought it was nicely done by Ridley.

I just thought we played so tough in 2015 it felt like we were finally back. I know we choked the Oklahoma and Florida games, but nobody wanted to play that team. We even matched Bama in physicality. I agree last year this team seemed to regress on the lines, I really
Hope rock is be fix and these guys just had an off year in the weight room.

But he did jog into the end zone, and we did need a Hail Mary.

And Tennessee won. and they needed their own huge pass play to force the hail Mary situation. what's your point?

We can go back and forth on what ifs all day. Thing is, Tennessee won and did it pretty banged up. Its in our house now and we choose the hors d'oeuvres

ND isn't as terrible as everyone makes them out to be IMO. Even though they were 4-8 last year they finished 26th in the S&P+ and were 1-7 in 1 possession games. I don't think they're great or anything but they'll be a good barometer to gauge just what UGA is this season

Swain really going off on Mike Griffith today and this article

I like Griffith, but this ends up being a hit piece the way he wrote it, IMO. Criticism on kids is a fine line and sure seems like it could be more fair-i.e get a second opinion from another scout friend for example. Anyway, I will be curious what he says on the SEC country podcast today since I would assume it comes up.

Again not covering for Foreman and I can't say this with certainty as I don't know for sure what defense was called but you have to have some help over the top by the safety on that play. My recollection is they were in cover two because both safeties were in the end zone over the top of the play and just didn't read the QB's eyes to get over and help on the play.

If I was a Vol football player and saw these articles, motivation would not be a problem. The players know there are NFL scouts at virtually every fall camp practice as well obviously at the games. Even in the off season you should treat every day as prep for an upcoming important job interview. You either get after it or you are are not needed at the next level. All of them had a perfect example in DB in the locker room with them every day.

Butch probably got this better than anybody. Pretty obvious by the type guys he recruited, staff changes, and the slogan this season. Which is really encouraging as far a I am concerned. The talent is there; they just need to be stronger, tougher, and more unified in what they do as a team.

I liked you better last summer when you were bashing me for worrying about DT depth.

Now you're making excuses for Georgia and criticizing us for the same thing.

Shame.

I don't see him making excuses lol. He's got a point that they'll be a contender for the East and I agree they'll be our toughest competition.

I'm talking about saying we had to get lucky to beat Georgia even though they had to get lucky to take the lead.

What we did wasn't luck either. They had a 15 yard penalty. Butch had a formation that baited them into kicking it to Berry. We executed a perfect hail mary while the great Kirby Smart defense stood behind our boss wide receiver while he plucked their joy right out of the sky.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Georgia is so bad on here.

We do realize it took arguably the most fortunate play in program history to beat them last year with a true FR QB, right?

We were relatively healthy at that point, too.

Plus they return 17 starters

Terrible O-line that's going to be even worse than last year. Eason has a big arm but he's inconsistent. Defense is good but not elite. They won't score enough. Look like an 8 win team to me.
