There are a range of sentiments:

- We are National Championship caliber and will certainly win it all this year

- We are a good team with lots of talent, and now we need the coaches to coach and the players to execute.

- Oh no! We suck again. (Because we lost Dobbs/Barnett/Malone/Sutton/etc)

- Fahr Butch and burn his house to the ground and salt the earth where his house used to be

- Shut the program down because we lost to SCar and Vandy last year

- BuBear

Basically, business as usual.

The ultimate revenge for Butch would be to win the SEC or even the CFB playoff and then say something like: "You know, this championship is great for our team, but the most important championship is the championship of life, and we win that every year with the individuals in our football program"

My man Butler.

Really though, we need to see if Shoop is legit. I understand he had all those injuries, but even before the injuries, our defense was not on the way to being a top 25 defense I don't believe. We all believed he was coming in to do what he had done at Penn State with less talent, leading the nation in sacks, top 10 in the country in total defense, and we struggled right out of the gate. I really want to see if Shoop really is the defensive mastermind he was praised to be and paid to be. I hope so, because if he is, we could be special, in spite of the talent we lost on defense.

We lost Kirkland (All-SEC freshman the year before) in game 2 against VaTech, and both Sutton and JRM (both All-SEC the year before) in game 3 against Ohio. That was 3 of the 4 defensive players Shoop had said he couldn't afford to lose before the season (with Barnett being the 4th). I thought considering those losses Shoops had the defense playing pretty well before the injury floodgate opened in the TAMU game. Despite some issues in the 1st quarters of the VaTech, UF, and UGA games, I thought Shoop's halftime adjustments were big time in those games, especially the UF game. I think if the defense stays healthy, and Tuttle and KMac are both 100% healthy and ready to go, this will be a much better defense this season.

That would be awesome

Over/under 8.5 wins regular season

8-4 should be the minimum for this season, IMO. The only 4 games that I could see as permissible losses would be @FL, UGA, @BAMA, & LSU.

There's no reason we should lose to a GT team with no QB. SC, Vandy, KY, & MZ shouldn't be on our level.

I'd guess we win 1 of those 4 big games, and unfortunately think we may end up losing 1 of those other 4 SEC games. So I'll take the under right now...

Fair, as mentioned earlier, I was primarily thinking of the way we started games. No question he adjusted great tho

Then Butch drops the mic and walks off the strange to fireworks as across the nation women swoon and men question their sexuality.

I know that facts carry limited weight in this discussion but... LeBron was +7 when he was on the court last night. He was on the court for 46 minutes. The Cavs lost by 5.
They were minus 11 the last 3 mins while LeBron was in the game.
No way around the fact, he disappeared in the 4th qtr in entire series so far..

Yeah, but if Lebron joined/created a super team then Durant has created an Ultra team.

This Golden State ram would most likely be favored in a 7-game series versus any previous champion.

Yeah, comparison is moot until Durant's "ultra team" goes belly up against a lesser talented team ala the Dallas Mavericks. :)

Fair enough, if this is the consensus I'll bow out

Figured TonyB would jump at the opportunity to make a new thread either way

Personally, I like this thread at the top. I know it sucks to see 5 pages of a topic that you don't care about, but on days like that, I find something else to do and get back on another day.

I know, which is why we should be optimistic for the coming season. But he has to prove it. Why can't Shoop bring a top 10 defense this year? We are still talented? If he is as good as he was said to be last year, Bartoo saying he's a NC DC, then we should be very optimistic, right?

Shoop recently admitted that he didn't make big picture adjustments midway through the season after all of the injuries. He insinuated that he kept his aggressive style, and he was still trying to play like he had DT's and an aggressive front 7.

If we can just limit our injuries, I expect to have a decent defense. I also think the addition of Warren will really help.
