Not sure if we had any of these last year, but the web site that put out those figures included starts lost due to injury or suspension, so you can add one (Richmond) to our tally for 2017. Also, I think you can go ahead and count on us playing 13 games, so you could add one more each for Hall and DK. But I'm betting JJ doesn't miss 11 games, so that would decrease the number. Either way, we are already at probably 35-40...that's as many or more than a lot of teams had last year.

Something is very wrong with that to happen 2 years in a row.

Eh, Hall just hadn't recovered from last year. JJ got hit with a helmet on the wrist. There's nothing you can do about that. That's football. DK, a non contact injury to a guy who has injury problems. Stinks, but not sure it's the coaches fault.

Something is wrong with Shoop's defense. No doubt about that. Injuries last year were a big part of it but there's something else that is off.

I'm starting to think that he plays the wrong players and/or the guys on defense don't know what they are doing all the time.

I am pretty confident that we had a terrible defensive gameplan Saturday. I guess my hope is that even though we saw the team get shredded last year towards the end of the season, Monday night had more to do with a terrible game plan against a unique offense ran by an underrated team and what we saw isn't a continuation from last year.

The Nebraska game actually gives me hope because in the middle of this 5 game skid by our defense was the Nebraska game where we held a ranked opponent in check. So in theory, the South Carolina, Vandy, Missouri and Kentucky games were due mostly to injury and the Georgia tech game was due to a terrible game plan. Right now, this is what I want to believe but I'm gonna need to see what happens the next 2 weeks.

Exactly my thoughts.

Shulers badge says, Pre-game only.

Dobbs pass says Bench access.

Peyton just says "Dont you know who I am?" No pass needed.

No need to rip on Shuler. If Peyton never comes here, he's the best QB that ever played here and it's not even close, IMO. If he hadn't left after his Junior year, he was going to be the Heisman favorite the next year.

No rip intended. It's literally what his badge and Dobbs badge said.

Anybody have a link to the Vol Network radio call of the last play of the GT game?

I remember it not being that great a call. Went back and listened to the scoring plays and the blocked kick and it kind of sucked. Bob was like "oh the kick was blocked" , without much emotion lol.

Suspensions were supposed to be indefinite... will see if they magically disappear for the UT game..

I don't see how the investigation can even be finalized with the preparation being more important and the storm not being gone until late in the week.

He's terrible. We need to fire him and hire Mike Keith.

That is bad deduction. If you want to really find the truth, you would have to break down every injury and how it was caused to see if there was commonality. For instance, how in the heck is JJs injury anybody's fault? Hall and Calberts injuries are ongoing knee problems from back in HS days IIRC, I guess that could be Butches fault because he recruited them. The two Lbs I honestly don't know enough about what happened to them to make any assessment on who or what is to blame...but heck if you need a goat to feel better...go for it. I think it is just bad fortune.

What will happen is that all the players will appeal their suspensions and the hearing will be scheduled for the Monday following the Tennessee game.

I've missed things since last night-- What is the latest on Austin Smith and is Vickers good to go?

thanks

Butch just said Vickers and Evan Berry are questionable this week. Will see how they look in practice. I would assume they and Austin Smith will play vs Florida. Smith traveled with the team to Atlanta. Doubt he makes that trip if he had just been severely injured two days prior.
