I am not gonna go dig up the quotes on mobile but he's said both those things. Staff can't develop players and this defense is going to break records set by last year's team.

On the developing player debate.

Has the staff developed players at the same rate as other top 10 programs?

My guess if you look at the draft numbers it will show he has a point. Last years draft and the one coming up are the only two that could fairly be looked at.

Berry needs to get healthy would have been perfect week to put him at WR. Instead he prob won't play to rest for Florida.

And you're judging him based on 2017 and one that hasn't happened yet?

Who put more in the league in 2017?

Picou was banged up most of camp but he was more ready to play than any other DTs..

Positives were we confirmed a few guys could play, 1, 4, 19 and 35.. outside of those three, lot of ????s

I don't have the numbers but I would like to see what they look like for Auburn, Florida, Lsu, Georgia and Texas A&M after this draft compared to us. Yes only last year and this years draft should be considered.

Yeah, I don't believe this. Larry isn't some football genius. He probably gets his info from other bitter old-timers who wish Fulmer was still running the show because he's their buddy.

What does it look like for Tennessee based on 2017 draft?

Considering ga tech went 3-0 last yr vs SEc and 5-1 last 6 before Monday night then I'd say that's a stupid statement by Larry. Ga Tech would probably beat a few SEC teams head to head. He is over rating the rest of the conference. Bama and UGA are the most talented with everyone else bunched together.

Very solid but still behind Florida and LSU and of course Bama. One year is a little hard to use especially when it looks very unlikely that this year is going to yield more than 1-2 drafts which makes his point hold some water.

they beat the brakes off UK not 8 months ago. And theyve beaten UGA 2 of the last 3 years. They also beat the hell out of Vandy last yr. The same Vandy that beat us. FOH Larry.

So we are behind 3 teams who are the banner school in states that are recruiting gold mines and the word you use to describe that is "solid?"

I'm not sure equipment managers/staff are really qualified to give a definitive answer on how good a coach is or not. I mean sure, they're out there for practices, but they've got jobs they've gotta focus on. It's not like they're taking in and critiquing a staffs approach or anything.

And then there's the fact that a great deal of coaching and preparation is done in meeting/film rooms, not on the practice field.

Well I did say "very solid"

If Tennessee is 4th over the two year period then that is plenty acceptable but it appears we won't be. Also looking at things like this make me even more sure Tennessee is never going to be a consistent 10+ win team again.

Georgia tech is better than all the teams in the East...(their record over GA shows) and probably Ark, Ole Miss, and Miss State. They would give Auburn and LSU a good game. They were 9-4 in a tougher conference than ours last year. Saying every team in SEC is better is comical at best.

Yeah, seemed like QD was trying to make him his go-to before BJ had a chance to work on establishing himself. I'd like to see more of Palmer. Hopefully we see Palmer and Latrell a lot this weekend.
