So the starter is ready is what you all are saying?
So the starter is ready is what you all are saying?
Before the season started, I proposed we put a sticky at the top of the recruiting forum that made clear what the preseason expectations were. I think it was near unanimous in the media that we were an 8-4 type team. I had a feeling as the 8-4 season actually played out, our fans would start revising up the expectations to say we were supposed to be better. Reality is, most people thought we'd be pretty bad this year.
I just wanna win. I don't care if that means putting Fils-Ailme, Chandler and Kelly on the field and running options all game. We've seen what QD can do, and based on what we've seen from a pretty large sample size, he's not the guy to win big games for us imo. We know JG is better fit for this offense, and we've seen in limited action he has a nice deep ball. Is he ready for prime time? Who knows, we heard Bituli wasn't we heard DKj wasn't, we heard Dobbs wasn't, etc. This is the same staff who barely ran Kamara at all in big games, why do people all of sudden trust them with making proper personnel decisions?
And guess what, the same media who says JG isn't ready, is the same media who said QD was gonna light it up, was the same media who said Kongbo was the next John Henderson.
Also, doesn't anybody remember what we heard from the media leading up to Worley's injury in 2014 about Dobbs? They all talked about how he wasn't ready, he was bouncing stray passes all over the field in practice, he turned the ball over too much, was 4th on the depth chart in the spring, etc.
I totally get the arguments for not starting JG and going for the experienced guy. But "media reports say he isn't ready" just doesn't do it for me. Unless QD turns a corner against UGA, I'm not convinced JG doesn't get a shot at some point. He's still just one snap away in theory. If he gets a chance to run the offense for more than 4 series in a game, I could see him having some success.
I kinda think he'll always be a guy who maybe takes chances with the ball and gets burned for it at times. That's a reason I can see for going with QD as the steadier option. But 5 turnovers in the past two games is hardly steady and he hasn't really had many splash plays to offset those either.
This is a lazy response, ziti.

If you don't wanna read it: Auburn gave Malzahn one extra year on his contract in summer 2016 and a slight raise on the front end of the contract (with a proportional lowering of salary on the backend). His buyout numbers were kept the same, albeit with an extra year worth of the yearly sum he'd be owed if fired.
What makes that extra year significant is that it makes Malzahn's buyout $2,237,500 bigger should Auburn choose to part ways with the coach whose seat has figured to be a bit warmer coming into 2016 after a 7-6 season in 2015.
In reading LWS posts I get the feeling that Butch is leaving no matter what. He has stated that a loss to Kentucky or Vandy and he's gone. If he didn't get an extension after 8-4 last year he's not getting one after 8-4 this year. Then someone asked what if he finishes 10-2 with a loss to Bama and he responded that he thinks that record would get him another job. I think he wants out and I think UT wants him out but we're just gonna have to wait till the end of the year
You mean like when we brought in Butch Jones and he kept the class together and didn't lose a bunch of kids to transfer?
GA hammers MS State at home. Ky stands a good shot at beating the gators.

Yea, that last Dooley class had all those 5 stars. Also, the current kids on the roster weren't that hot of commodities either. Not to mention most of the talent left early for the draft.
The starter is clearly more capable at this point than JG. Key words being at this point. I think JG is the better QB in the long run
You're not gonna see mass transfers and a class crumble with a coaching hire.
Even Dooley kept most of what Kiffin had and added Justin Hunter and Darick Rogers.
