I was responding to a post about the difference between Auburn and UT, and I used examples of the different mentalities. I'm not an Auburn fan, but they always believe they should be running with the big dogs. I feel that way about UT and wish more people did.

I may be a conspiracy theorist here but I think all this talk in the preseason about winning 17 of the last 21 and so many nine win seasons and all that other stuff was just Butch setting up for his next job. I think that's why he hired a new agent because his agent last year couldn't get the job he wanted or another job and I think he and the University saw the writing on the wall and that's why there was no extension. If he has a great season he uses that to spring into a new job with momentum. If he has a bad season we fire him. Currie then makes his mark and brings in who he wants to bring in
Here is what was said about his original contract from 2012:
"If Jones is fired without cause, Tennessee will owe him as much as $2 million per year, payable in monthly installments. If terminated, Jones is required to make reasonable best efforts to mitigate the universitys obligation to pay liquid damage, meaning UT would be relieved of his buyout payment should he find another job that pays him $2 million or more after he leaves. Tennessee would owe him the difference if he gets a job that pays him less than $2 million per year.
If he is fired with cause, UT would owe him no further money."

We were not in this game. We were in excellent position to win this game, but sometimes players have to execute. I realize that we had a lot of young players, especially receivers, playing in their first hostile road game, but you have to execute at the highest level when you are an underdog on the road.
But you know what? Unlike a lot of you, I feel pretty good about this team. We lost because there were a lot of mistakes made on the field. A lot of the mistakes I saw Saturday I can attribute to growing pains, and those can be corrected as players are gaining experience. I see Bama as the only sure loss on our schedule. LSU showed it has flaws on both sides of the ball. UGA I think is a pretty good ball club, but they also have weaknesses. I still believe 8-4 at worst, with 9-3 being highly possible, and even an outside shot at 10-2. And I think in a season where we were replacing about 90% of our offensive production, at least 8-4 will be a decent season, will hold this recruiting class together, and set us up nicely for next season.
Cam Cameron was fired with Miles. I am guessing he was associate head coach but not sure. Some staffs don't even have a coach in that title I don't think.
