Our pass/catch game Hasbro come together in a hurry. QD has to he smarter when he is pressured, and young receivers, and even veterans, have to run crisper routes. We know they are being taught. We have watched the practice videos with Coach Beard. And receivers have to start making those catches when they are open. This can still be a great season, but these guys have to take their game up a notch immediately. They have the talent and skills. Man up.

I get that the players made some mistakes but it's the coaches job to put them in favorable positions. This loss was on the coaches.

6-3 game you don't throw a hitch from inside your own 10 with a shaky QB and aggressive D. You run and if you don't get the first you punt.

1st and goal inside the one you run, then run, then run again, from under center or a wildcat with JK and Chandler.

1st and goal from the 9 you run, then run again, then depending on the first two plays either run again or throw a safe pass that can't get intercepted, all while running the clock down.

those points aren't really even debatable. Some other questionable decisions could be debated but doing just the things I mentioned above win that ballgame.

That is why I'm down in the coaches, plus the ridiculous personnel and substitution decisions. And Butch isn't gonna change. This was the year to show he had learned from his mistakes but it isn't gonna happen. He is too stubborn to change.

I looked him up in some old programs, and found this picture of Lee Jenkins (center, playing sax) jamming in the early 1980s with Charles Gillespie and Curt Singer. A picture of the General is in the background.

I definitely haven't given up. Waited all offseason to watch Tennessee play. Not going to spend the season miserable and pining for coaches we may never have.

So the past 4 days is what happens in the recruiting forum when the Vols lose a game they shouldn't and they have a 90% full recruiting class.

It's sounded a lot like the FF in here.

Saddling the AD with a $2+ million obligation to avoid the perceived possibility of a one-time, unquantifiable but marginal impact on recruiting is asinine.

It didn't hurt LSU in 2016 when Miles was all but fired the last week of the season and then the administration changed their minds at halftime of his last game. They were literally giving the man a standing ovation sendoff and he tips his cap in farewell. Still pulled the #2 class in the nation.

It's also already going to happen. The media is going to be saying he's on the hot seat. Everybody would know he's coaching for his job regardless of how many years are left. At best, its window dressing, and those are some expensive ****ing curtains.

Also, if he's selling kids on coming to play for Butch Jones, we've got bigger problems than perceived instability. The man splooges his pants at the end of big games. You think kids are coming here to play for him?

He knows he's not going to be here in 4 years, we know he's not going to be here in 4 years, because he hasn't earned it.

You're advocating giving away free money.

My guess is the coaching he is getting from afar is way better than the coaching he is getting up close from Thig.

Call me crazy (everyone will), but I'm not ruling out Les Miles. I know he made a lot of dumb mistakes, but the guy was an amazing recruiter and never finished with fewer than 8 wins in what was long (and arguably still is) the best division in college football.

I’ve seen 4 seasons to have a pretty good idea how this season plays out. I have an educated guess.

I'm not suggesting we fire Jones tomorrow, but I think there's enough evidence that he's not going to get it done to at least speculate on possible replacements on a message board devoted to speculation. He can shut us all up here in a couple of weeks if he likes.
