'21 Recruiting Forum: Music City Bowl vs. Purdue Pregame/Game Thread

Pretty much everyone on social media is holding the ACC officials accountable. Only ones in denial are UT haters. The logical ones know it was a bad call.
And the sad thing is, the refs themselves will not be held accountable. Nothing will happen. They'll be right back out there next year. They'll never answer a question, never have to explain it, never be disciplined.

Heupel needs to lay waste to that officiating crew in the postgame interviews. He won’t, but he absolutely should. I would napalm the **** out of it and make every question answered with some variation of a comment about how bad that officiating was.
He should light them up. Tennessee fans would pay any fine.

Both wide open, one was a blatent PI.

So answer me this, which do you like more:

Hooker with two chances at a WR with two steps down the field.

Or

McGrath 50 yarder.

Mcgrath was barely getting the ball over the line on PATs for Christ's sake.

Y'all being silly about this.
I like calling a high percentage pass that picks up the first down and leaves time on the clock for another play or two verses two low percentage deep balls that Hooker has struggled with all night long.

Heupel has learning to do. His offense relies too much on tempo. When teams do the injury BS or we need to slow it down he has to add in some wrinkles. Tempo is good but its too much of a crutch for him.
We scored 45 points and left at least 28 on the field with poor throws by Hooker.

Refs were bad, sure. Whatever-they’ve been terrible all year. It’s the new reality.
The Vols lost this game. Effort was sub-optimal.
The Purdue TE TD was one of the more gutless efforts by Vols I’ve seen in a long time. Embarrassing. Should be shown all off-season on a loop in weight room with the caption “play to the whistle”.
Purdue wanted it, punched Vols in the mouth and took it.

NCAA has an officiating problem in both football and basketball. Refs need to be full time, trained and held accountable - similar to pros. But NCAA would have to spend money, so instead we get crap officiating all across college sports. Any NCAA approved game personality risks losing their jobs, so they do not speak out against this problem. Basketball is even worse than football.
Refs should not have conference affiliations

What a crappy 2 days for TN athletes and fans. The refs got us last night too. No conscience in the jerks wearing black and white

Asking a guy to make the perfect downfield throw vs making the easy throws like we did earlier in the year vs South Carolina before half with less time left
Have you reviewed the coverages and what not? I’m thinking there was more to it than that

To downplay the officiating impact on the game is silly

Can someone find out for me who the ref was who made the forward progress call? I think it was the dude on the near pylon.

Suspects:

Brian Perry
Brian Sakowski
George Liotus

My only counter is, ya had 3 timeouts & gashed them TWICE in the middle on the last 2 scoring drives. So why not try at least one slant?
