MidTown is great. We live in Central Gardens and love Overton Square, Cooper Young, Memphis, Zoo, etc.

Downtown is good too with the Grizzlies, Red Birds, and the Breweries & Restaurants.

I visited Memphis 3 years ago I think and it was a ghost town downtown early evening.

When you say you enjoy Memphis. What part? Because 95% of the actual city sucks. Former Bartlett resident here.

Bartlett sucks so I could understand why you didn't enjoy your time living here.

Downtown on the riverfront is beautiful, midtown has come alive again and has some great bars and restaurants, and East Memphis is a great neighborhood to live in, particularly inside the 240 loop.

I get that people don't like living here, but I love it.

I'm coming back to Memphis in the early fall once it cools down to bring the grandsons to the zoo (3 year old has never been) and really want to get downtown and see the Beale St. Landing. They were just in the early stages of construction when I left Memphis for Nashville back in 2010 and the few times I've been back since then have been quick trips to see family in G'town, and have not had time to get all the way downtown. We used to do a lot of cycling on the greenway on the weekends.

Memphis: Behind only Detroit, St. Louis, and Oakland in Violent Crime Rate. A great place

Sure. If you actually LIVE in one of those neighborhoods impacted by the vast majority of the crime...

Otherwise, YES. Memphis is a great place to live, work, and play.

Actually, Memphis has the Highest Crime Rate in the country for the second year in a row. And this is for Metropolitan Memphis, which includes the Urban AND surrounding areas.

Crime in America 2016: Top 15 Most Dangerous Metro Areas - Law Street (TM)

Please take it. I will not.

I don't live in the surrounding areas, I live in the heart of Memphis.

Mid Town, Central Gardens. Perfectly safe.

Don't worry little guy. You don't have to visit this great city, no ones gonna make ya.

Sweet dreams angel :wink2:

Gotta chime in and defend my city. Memphis gets a lot of negative press but it is actually a great place to live. Like everywhere it has its spots but if you aren't in the middle of the nonsense you'll be fine.

I get it. I was born and raised in East Tennessee... Kingsport, TN. God's country, a wonderful place.

Heard all the "horror stories" about Memphis. Believed them, till I got here, and could see first hand.

Memphis is an urban city, it is what it is. Memphis also has a lot of grit, and a lot of good, if you can look deeper.

I guess it's not for everyone, but I love this city.

The culture and demographics are the main reason it gets complained about so much.

Personally i don't like the small sample of the culture i have gotten from that place. Its so depressing.

Well, at least I know more about Memphis now than I did before. I do not, however, know very much more at all about Eze.

There needs to be a way to flag posts about recruits so we can filter and eliminate the AAA and Google reviews.

I'm east Tennessee born and bred. My two grandfathers from Union County and the Sequatchie river valley. All that said, I love Tennessee. I love the Nashville area, and I love Memphis too. It is a cool city that we love to visit. I think the reason a lot of Tennesseans feel the way they do toward Memphis, is because they feel Memphis doesn't love Tennessee. Which is the way a lot of Kentuckians feel toward Louisville. It is odd how much that is similar, and I didn't realize it until I moved here to Easter Kentucky. Folks around mid and eastern Kentucky say the exact same things about Louisville that we do about Memphis.

At least one thread a year gets hijacked and becomes the Memphis thread.

Eze is strongly considering Memphis high. It us Wy it became pertinent. There would be hardly ay posts at all, in hardly any threads, if it was left up to the gripy whiners. When recruit information happens it is posted immediately and discussed. I'd it that freaking hard on your thumb to scroll? Really? And my post is directed mostly at 74. Go pay if you want just info, or you could just check the recruit info only thread. But then your wittle bitty tumb will probably get tired from having to search a couple of pages for an actual update on whatever recruit it is you want to find info on. Or you could just shut up and converse with everybody else, and quit being a whiny beech. :)

Because all griping and whining is reserved for star ratings on recruits or a thousand other things that Butch doesn't do the way internet forum posters would; amirite?

I may not feel great about this class so far, but I'm not a nega Butch. And if VN was like the griper above wants. None of us would be here. Just a few farts like him. Freak would have to shut down the site for lack of revenue. So yeah it is different. If you don't like what some guys post, or how often they post, you can just use that wonderful little ignore feature.
