Sure. If you actually LIVE in one of those neighborhoods impacted by the vast majority of the crime...

Otherwise, YES. Memphis is a great place to live, work, and play.

Some people just don't feel safe unless there is a Chic fil A and Bed Bath and Beyond on every corner.

The culture and demographics are the main reason it gets complained about so much.

Personally i don't like the small sample of the culture i have gotten from that place. Its so depressing.

LOL the demographics?

Yea, Memphis has very different "demographics" from Knoxville...

If that's the issue, then there's not much else to say.

I don't think color has much to do with it. Eastern Kentucky is depressing for the same reason..poverty, crime and drug addiction. There are very ethnicities here. It is a colorless plague.

Eze is strongly considering Memphis high. It us Wy it became pertinent. There would be hardly ay posts at all, in hardly any threads, if it was left up to the gripy whiners. When recruit information happens it is posted immediately and discussed. I'd it that freaking hard on your thumb to scroll? Really? And my post is directed mostly at 74. Go pay if you want just info, or you could just check the recruit info only thread. But then your wittle bitty tumb will probably get tired from having to search a couple of pages for an actual update on whatever recruit it is you want to find info on. Or you could just shut up and converse with everybody else, and quit being a whiny beech. :)

I can't tell if its your awful Windows phone or if your back on the meth pipe.

Gross stereotype and not true at all.

Now tell us all about that time you passed through Memphis and saw that black guy.

A drug dealer is a drug dealer. I sat in downtown Jellico Tennessee at Veterans memorial park for a few hours thursday while waiting on a client having surgery at the hospital..I counted at least 45 drug deals happen. There were 5-6 people selling the drugs. People would drive up. The person would jump in and come back and be dropped of 5-10 minutes later. Every hour or so the main guy would show up, and all the street dealers would go over by ones I twos and he would hand them a pack of cigarettes and they would hand him cash...they were all whites. It was fascinating. In 3-4 hours I never saw one law officer of any kind.

I may not feel great about this class so far, but I'm not a nega Butch. And if VN was like the griper above wants. None of us would be here. Just a few farts like him. Freak would have to shut down the site for lack of revenue. So yeah it is different. If you don't like what some guys post, or how often they post, you can just use that wonderful little ignore feature.

lol. Don't get your feelings hurt. Was not aimed specifically at you, thus I did not quote your post. Lot of people on here that 90% or more of their posts are whining about Butch, be it what he says, assistants, recruiting, in game coaching and on and on. Also, don't worry. I use the ignore feature freely.

Terrypedigo may have gained access to Ulysees account
Or
Ulysees has been drinking
Or
Terrypedigo and Ulysees are drinking and posting together
Or
Ulysees got pissed off and angry posting with total disregard for spelling

Many folks in Eastern KY feel that way about the "Golden Triangle" region that includes Louisville, Lexington, and Frankfort because the system has been set up to funnel the vast majority of the state's money and resources into that area, and it's been that way for generations. You wouldn't believe the amount of coal money (both public and private) that goes into that area instead of the very places from which it was mined.

I've also always gotten the impression that much of Louisville considers itself a northern metropolis far apart from the southeast region to which the rest of the state belongs.

I don't live in the surrounding areas, I live in the heart of Memphis.

Mid Town, Central Gardens. Perfectly safe.

Don't worry little guy. You don't have to visit this great city, no ones gonna make ya.

Sweet dreams angel :wink2:

I lived in Mditown Memohis, off McNeil and then Snowden across from Rhodes college for 8 years several years ago. Had my car broken into 3 times and nearly witnessed my wife and two kids abducted in front of me on our own street. Had a buddy shot in broad daylight in the parking lot of a hotel on Germantown Parkway after begging for his life. Fortunately he survived it. I was also fortunate to not be one of 10 victims (one of which was shot and killed) in and around our neighborhood who was pistol whipped and robbed at nighttime in their driveways before the perp was caught.

Memphis has some great areas and some charm. Used to love parts of downtown and to go running around Midtown and Shelby Farms. But after the near gang-related family abduction and my oldest child getting to school age, we got the hell out of a very, very dangerous city.

Memphis is literally and geographically the arm pit of the state of Tennessee. In addition have you ever caught a whiff of the local politics and the local politicians. Lord have mercy.

Actually, Memphis has the Highest Crime Rate in the country for the second year in a row. And this is for Metropolitan Memphis, which includes the Urban AND surrounding areas.

Crime in America 2016: Top 15 Most Dangerous Metro Areas - Law Street (TM)

Please take it. I will not.

Germantown has one of the lowest crime rates in the state. As another poster said, it's all about where to know where most of the crime takes place. Just like any other decent sized city.

And Collierville was like top 10 small towns to raise a family in something a year or 2 ago

I get it. I was born and raised in East Tennessee... Kingsport, TN. God's country, a wonderful place.

Heard all the "horror stories" about Memphis. Believed them, till I got here, and could see first hand.

Memphis is an urban city, it is what it is. Memphis also has a lot of grit, and a lot of good, if you can look deeper.

I guess it's not for everyone, but I love this city.

Kingsport native here.. Clas of '80 DB.. You?

One time I went to Memphis and saw the ghost of Elvis. It was on Union ave. I followed him up to the gates of Graceland and I watched him walk right through! True story.

Well that's a pretty ****ty part of town. What were you doing housing your family there????

There's no one being abducted off the streets in Central Gardens, can tell you that...

I was born in Humboldt and moved back to live in Jackson after college. We used to go on "trim runs" to Memphis on weekends. Fun place but I wouldn't want to live there.

I was born and raised in Memphis.Haven't heard the term "trim run" used in a long time that's old school.
