Which is why no one watches them. A bunch of 1 percenters who know nothing about what life is like for an average American but who think that they’re smarter than everyone and that they can tell us what to think. You couldn’t pay me to watch the Oscars
You would be surprised that most actors are not 1%'s....They are well off. But not 1%'s...most have had to work odd jobs and such to make ends meet. What is an "Average" American? Is an average American one that goes to public school and go to college? One that doesn't graduate HS? One that graduates HS and works in a factory? One that has a golden toilet? What is your definition of average American? Don't discount someones voice because 1.) they don't echo your sentiment and 2.) They have worked hard and become successful.

99% of people who are mad at a “protest” or someone speaking out is because they don’t agree with or can’t understand what they are saying. Not the actual action of doing.

If all those Oscars people spoke out against crappy SEC basketball officiating, everyone would love it.

Except Big Blue Nation...they'd riot, well maybe not after the LSU game.

Basically people who gripe about movies or music today are just lazy. We've never had so much access to so many world wide cultural art/entertainment. Hollywood and the US market are still going to shovel down the same crap, I'm actually surprised Black Panther got so much attention at the Oscars since usually big box office films get snuffed.

I only think Southern born Oscar people would speak out against crappy SEC officiating.

Samuel L. Jackson, was born in TN but is a UGA fan....that hurts.

Stereotype much? Some of us who are neither do not like them because of the content, not because we are lazy. That I choose not to participate in celebrating what I believe is a highly negative influence on our culture is not being lazy. It's being a free American. Conversely, those who do celebrate it are also being free Americans.

So you don't watch movies/shows or listen to music?

Not sure what about my statement is inaccurate, if you don't like "big Hollywood" then it's very, very, VERY easy to avoid it and still watch/listen to fantastic content in this era.

If it wasn't so one sided few people would care. But if one of them got up there and said we need to support the president, he would be booed off of the stage and then black balled by Hollywood and would never work again. Again, it's a bunch of rich people who think they're smarter than everyone else parading around in their wealth telling everyone else how to think and vote. Don't care what they think.

You literally described every single celebrity ever. Sports/film/music/etc. that's what ALL of them do, everyone knows Hollywood & the Oscars are extremely blue/liberal and most of the true reds that are in Hollywood don't go to the event.

@Bassmaster_Vol this may be your best non-comical post of all time bud

Now you in conflict with your own statements. Do you think all movies, shows and music are of the same content today such that I don't watch or listen to them? Then you say Big Hollywood is very easy to avoid and still watch fantastic content. My point was cleary stated. Many of us are not lazy for not watching what we consider to be negative culturally, which is what you obviously consider to be fantastic. We watch and listen to content we like. There are plenty of options from today as well as from yesterday. Celebrate away on what you consider fantastic - but don't call me lazy for not celebrating what I consider to be garbage.

Honestly I don't care about Hollywood discussing politics at their once a year award show.

It annoyed me far more when I couldn't turn on a football game (NFL) without hearing politics a couple years ago...ESPN was/is the worse, I want to catch highlights and be told scores. Don't lecture me about anything political.

I didn't? We're saying the same thing here, you do realize that. The only difference is I'm saying it's lazy to gripe/complain when you could just find the content you like and not worry about mainstream. It's my opinion, and I'll stick with it. You don't have to agree with me, but I don't care either way. I don't think any less of people who want to gripe about Hollywood or the Oscars, totally fine with it honestly.

But the people who do that often say "there's nothing new/good coming out" and that's just lazy/inaccurate in my opinion.

All entertainers use their platform to espouse their beliefs. Do you complain about Kid Rock or Ted Nugent or Kirk Cameron or any other conservative entertainer. Although Kid Rock is all over the spectrum as far as political affiliation is concerned.

Same on both sides.
Dixie chicks found their "booed off stage" moment also.

It's a staple in politics. It's ok when 'our side' does it but bothersome when 'they' do. And neither side will ever admit the similarities between them.

I can’t even remember the last movie I watched in theaters. No creativity left in Hollywood and all actors and directors are smug self congratulatory hypocrites. The entire industry sucks.
that is a stupid take....there are plenty of good movies out. What do you do? Stay at home and watch Reality TV? Fox News? Make home movies? Watch movies from the 70's and 80's? You a Quaker? I've seen some dumb takes, but this is by far the dumbest. Now if you said you didn't go to the movies because they are overpriced...I think everyone can agree with that. If you even said that you don't go because you don't like teenagers destroying the movie experience.

Go watch some of your superhero movies. You'll feel better.

Absolutely nailed it on the head.

Also Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse was a fantastic film, it might not be everyone's cup of tea and I get that. But I'd argue it was creative, well done, original, and the best superhero movie made.
