If you want to get back to root causes, you could make an argument that it's the New Deal's fault. Wage freezes during the Depression (which are a terrible idea) led to companies trying to attract workers by offering to pay for their health care costs, and from that point it was off to the races.Most huge companies struggle with efficiency and effectiveness. Anything that large deals with bureaucracy. I'm not pro large government but think that argument is a blanket statement that lacks some neccessary nuance. Health care has been broken for decades.
