The Bible does not talk about dinosaurs, but we know they existed. This is a fact.
We also know that there are books of the Bible that were left out for some reason or the other. You can still believe in GOD and question things that are presented to you.
Actually the Bible does talk about dinosaurs, it just doesn't call them dinosaurs because the word dinosaur wasn't invented until the late 19th century. See Behemoth in Job 40 and Leviathan in Job 41 or the flying fiery serpent of Isaiah 14.

And books were left out of the Bible with VERY good reason.

This is just laughable. Go watch a 5 minute YouTube video about evolution that they show 9 year olds in school and youll understand. Are you kidding? "Which is completely and totally unproven?"

You have made numerous statements to people saying they just dont want to see the truth today & youre literally uneducated on the most basic of scientific pillars & because of your religiosity you almost seem to find pride in being ignorant. Damn glad youre here rambling with us on VN and not impacting laws with your nonsense. Are you trying to make some Matt Slick esque Christian Apologetics nonsense? I genuinely dont get how you can conflate the science of evolution with asking about morality (below)
Yes, let me get all of my facts from Youtube, the source of knowledge.

Hey guys, remember how y'all said I had such a terrible attitude and was driving people away! Uh, where are y'all at calling Instrumental out here? Again, I'm not the one with the bad attitude in this discussion today.

To be fair on this point dinosaurs were named by man of a modern era...there is only proof that the Bible didn't use the Latin derived name of "dinosaurs" there isn't proof that the Bible doesn't mention the creatures themselves.

sure, they're red herrings, but they're certainly relevant when you discuss "faith". your faith tells you what you've been saying in this thread all day. you believe it 100%. you've stated these things are "truths" and are "infaliable"....that's a dangerous mentality imo. now, yours don't result in genocide like my red herrings, but, the mentality is basically the same (what i've been taught to beleive is the ONLY way). it's devisive by design.

no different than the nazi, jihadist or crusader believed in what they were doing 100%.

which brings me to point about infalibility. i don't think anything that man has written or taught on the subject of religion is infalible. in fact, i think it should be poked and prodded as much as possible.

because man's track record for interpretation is flawed at best, and history has certainly shown us that to be one truth we could probably agree on.
Yes, it is 100% infallible truth, that Christ taught that He is the only way to God and that nobody would see the Father except through Him. That is 100% truth. Nobody has shown where that is wrong today and nobody will be able to.

Yeah because all education on topics is corrupted by a few YouTube videos. Read a paper, watch a documentary, open your mind to things outside your Bible.

Also, people can call me out if theyd like, I dont care if I drive anyone away lol. This is the off topic forum all is fair here. Religion is a complete farce & a waste of one's existence to suck up to an imaginary sky fairy who had to become his own son to save us from something he created (or according to you didnt create?)

Ive been a bit salty in my replies admittedly so Ill drop it here and get back to work. As far as a forum goes this is pretty tame. GG Bass thanks for trading blows, go vols.

I'll pray for you Instrumental. You may not want me to, but I will all the same. I've done my fair share of researching and I can assure you I'm not as dumb as you might think. Although that's not saying much admittedly.

as long as you actually pray, instead of just typing it. That's one of my bugaboos.

What do you think I'm trying to do here, dr? Yes, it tells us to go. But I can't convert anyone. That's what I mean. I have presented the gospel in this thread today on more than one occasion. That's all that I can do.
I think this is where you're limiting yourself? You make reasonable arguments, but if you're only argument is that "it is written," then you are not going to reach a lot of people. It is a very tough issue that many churches are struggling with. I do not think that you are intentionally being condescending, but many people here seem to be viewing you as that way. I think you're very righteous and faithful, but that is not what is going to convince some people. I am not good at speaking to people about religion or what they believe. It is a difficult thing to do. That is why I was asking you. I did not mean to come off as sounding critical.

FTR I dont think youre dumb. I vehemently disagree with your worldview but not that youre less intelligent than me because of it. Appreciate the chat.

That's why I'm glad it is not my responsibility to save anybody. As Paul said in 1st Corinthians 5, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase."

What was the reason. The Bible is inspired by GOD. Don't pick and choose what YOU (MAN) wants me to read.

Do you really want to discuss canonicity? There were really only 2 books that were even considered for canonization, the Didache and the Shepherd of Hermas. All of these other gnostic gospels that you hear about like the gospel of Thomas or Judas or Peter or those, were never considered. The reason is because they weren't actually written by the people who's name is in the title, but were written long after those men were dead and they are filled with gnostic heresies that are completely unrelated to the teaching of the New Testament. They weren't included because they shouldn't have been included. They weren't inspired by God.

It's impossible for his faith to accommodate the idea that God is the creator of all things. We can do this all day. We are both committed to our worldview which shape the way we interpret the evidence. Who's worldview makes sense?

That's when we can begin to look at what makes sense of the world, the order of the world, the design of the world, where does personality come from, objective moral values, etc. etc. evolution cannot explain these things.

Taking the evidence of evolution at face value is not a worldview. Instrumental is not your polar opposite because he does so, you reject it specifically because it interferes with your worldview. And your worldview requires a leap of faith that an intangible being exists and that ancient text is the absolute truth.

Personality, morality- those come from very powerful, very evolved parts of the human brain. And as far as order and design of the world- I've been to some places on this Earth that appear to have been completely and totally forsaken by the Christian God or any God. So if some perfect, divinely engineered world is supposed to be evidence of God, well I don't know where that world is.

But anyway, neither of us are likely to convince the other of anything here, so best to just agree to disagree and move along.

and i'm not even saying that's not what happened.

i'm just saying that other devout folks in other religions will tell you the same thing about their faith.....they believe just as strongly about their faith, as you do yours, and it's teachings.

and your answer to that problem is.....that they need to drop their beliefis for "the truth"....and be saved.
they would say the same to you..........or a jihadist would simply say kill the infidel lol.

and the infalibility of it all, is problematic and devisive....plenty of evidence out there to suppor this for pretty much any religion/faith.

the red herrings were extremes, yes, but they are the result, ultimately, of this "infaliable" way of thinking/believing, as evidenced by your last line..."nobody has shown where that is wrong today and nobody will be able to"....that's the kind of talk that kind of kills the discussion aspect, objects to acitve listening and just leads to absolutes......

i'm not really trying to argue against you or what you believe. think you know that.

You're being as condescending as some claim he is by asking that question.
No I’m not..I actually wanted to know how he thought a kangaroo got to the ark from Australia but he didn’t have an answer honestly..I didn’t say he was wrong by any means..just wanted his thoughts and opinions..I’m a Christian but I personally do not believe there was a global flood..I believe there was a flood that occurred but maybe over a certain area @Bassmaster_Vol

I never do this, but if it is what you want, I will allow it. But for the record, I disagree with everything you said here.

Well, my point was that nobody can show that Christ did not teach that. Because He did. Clearly. As you admit.

Everything else you said was true for the most part, but so what? Of course there are different religions. There have always been different religions. There have also been people who abuse their religion in the name of evil, even Christianity. That does not mean that there is no truth and that we cannot know truth. So I'm not really sure what point you are trying to make.

Oh me too but God isn't on the line as far as I can tell. Not like the direct red phone he had with the Jews back in the day.
I think I get messages from God from time to time. When I have a decision to make and it's a difficult one that I'm struggling with, I will sometimes get a sudden clarity that I think is guidance from God.

I respect everyone's view even if I disagree with it. A personal relationship with God works for me. I feel better mentally when I feel close to God. I don't believe it is my place to judge others and condemn them to hell because they don't believe as I do. Each person is responsible for their own salvation.

No I don't know the answer to that. I think some would probably give to you the theory of Pangea. But honestly, I'm not an expert in that area.

I'm in Louisville getting ready to do some of The Bourbon Trail with a friend. So far, what I've seen of the UL campus is trash. No wonder they had to pay athletes to come here.

Churchill Downs is overwhelming with size and splendor but underwhelming in beauty. Though it is summer. Just thought it would be a prettier view from the Millionaires Row.

well, earlier you equated it to debating what the moon was made of............................lol.

the truth is in the eye of the beholder. your truth, is different from others. and if everyone believes their belief structure is the truth, then how can they all be right?

they're not....and the sooner people would get to that realizaion all over the world, the better this place would probably be
