Founding fathers were not big fans of religion.

"Lighthouses are more useful than churches." - Ben Franklin

"This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it!" - John Adams

"Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man." - Thomas Jefferson

Oh look, I can do that too:

“The Christian religion is, above all the religions that ever prevailed or existed in ancient or modern times, the religion of wisdom, virtue, equity and humanity.” -John Adams

“My hopes of a future life are all founded upon the Gospel of Christ and I cannot cavil or quibble away [evade or object to]. . . . the whole tenor of His conduct by which He sometimes positively asserted and at others countenances [permits] His disciples in asserting that He was God”- John Quincy Adams

“The name of the Lord (says the Scripture) is a strong tower; thither the righteous flee and are safe [Proverbs 18:10]. Let us secure His favor and He will lead us through the journey of this life and at length receive us to a better.” -Samuel Adams

“I am a real Christian – that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ.” -Thomas Jefferson

You picked out two who were Deists. But I believe that a majority of the founding fathers had Christian beliefs. I have even seen Adams and Jefferson referred to as Christian Deists. There were many others that were Christian, and I am sure historians have proof through church rolls and baptisms to verify that.

and the british and french killed each other for hundreds of years, one protestant, one catholic.
That's not why they killed each other. Don't twist history to make it fit your views. That was 100% political. They were the two greatest powers in Europe and the 100 years war was because of a power struggle

ok. yea, had nothing to do with religion.

And that doesn’t make the religion which they named false. People are sinners and will do wicked things.

It is an interesting dichotomy in our society when the majority of terrorism in the world today is perpetrated by people claiming to be Muslims, and Islam more often than not gets a pass in terms of not being specifically blamed for the actions of those terrorists. However, our society is willing to look back hundreds of years at the crusades, wars between Catholics and Protestants, or any crazy actions by every nutbag that claims to be a Christian as evidence of what a horrible religion Christianity and Christians in general are.

Since BGS and Bass started a seemingly innocuous chat about Wednesday church, it's been 6 days and 22 pages of ongoing debate. Fortunately, though, I think we're getting really close to resolution now. A lot of minds have been changed and people are starting to see eye to eye. Good job, everybody!

I don't agree, Islam is seen by many, especially in this country, in a very negative light.

Amazing, isn’t it?

Media goes out of their way to limit the bad exposure that Islam gets when a radical Islamist terror attack occurs. The headline will read, "Terrorist Attack on Hotel". Let those loons at Westboro "Baptist Church" protest a funeral and the headline will read "Baptists Protests Homosexual Funeral"

I'm not talking about the media, I'm talking about the masses in the western world.
