I don't get it, what is the appeal to Trump? What plans or ideas have got him so far ahead of everyone else? All I hear is that he is going to make America "win" and be "great", and that he is going to build a wall, but that's all I got. I didn't think republicans would like him at least because of his extensive past as a liberal

Donald has the biggest name id of all the candidates. He's associated with success. The American people are unhappy in general with the Washington establishment and the news media. He's putting voice to all the fears, dissatisfaction, and hopes of millions of unhappy yet gullible Americans in a new, bluntly abrasive, anti-PC manor. It's prime time entertainment. Plus it's the Republicans' turn to win one being the Dems have held the presidency for two consecutive terms. It's the perfect storm.

Oh man, I really was saying it was a good night for Cruz. He won far more delegates than it was looking like he would win. And Trump didn't win the thing last night like it looked for a while he would. Cruz (and even Rubio) still have a chance.

Well, while I appreciate your optimism I'll tell you I expected much better results. The delegate count is still mathematically in play, but the momentum seems to have been set going forward. Ted definitely does better on election day than many would expect based on polling, but he really needed to dominate super Tuesday to stop Donald's momentum and force Marco and company out. Texas keeps him alive for now though. The best hope going forward is to take it all the way to the convention, but that would be ugly and I don't see the GOP establishment going through heck to make sure Ted comes out the nominee. Even if they did the Donald would screw it up with a third party run for sure. I hope I'm wrong but the die seems to have been cast. I did my part. Now all I can do is pray for a benevolent tyranny opposed to a malevolent tyranny.

It is rather disheartening.

I'm just trying to find all of these Trump supporters I keep seeing from the polls. Seriously...everyone I know either dislikes Trump or likes a Dem. It's like they don't exist except in the polls.

Looking at my post it didn't sound as I intended. I didn't mean for it to come across as an insult to those that support him. The point I was trying to make is I think he's not at all a conservative republican. I think he is saying whatever moves the polls. I don't think he ever intends or believes the things he says he will do. I think many of those that are supporting him are doing so because he appears as an outsider. Many think Washington is bought and paid for (as I do as well) and think he's a departure from that when he's been the one buying. I think he's a snake in the grass, a wolf in sheep's clothing. I think if he's elected it will be a dumpster fire. It would not surprise me if his candidacy has been orchestrated by the DNC.

I shake my head at the American electorate. Trump is so transparent to me it's unbelievable that people can't see right through him. They actually believe he will do what he's saying. They actually think he believes all the stuff he's saying.

All this stuff kinda reminds me of what happened in Germany in the 1930s. One has to be aware of the gift of gab versus the lies, half-truths, and made up agendas. Surly our electrant is smart enough to fall into that frame of mind. I may be looking for a second home North of the border to enjoy my retirement. Maybe the Caribbean might be better.

I used the Politico site to review the primary results for my state (Georgia) and specifically looked at the results for my county and several others close by.

The thing that jumped out to me was that Trump won by much larger margins in the counties with a less educated population. If you look at the results of all the other states, I think this theory holds true. Trump is playing on the frustrations and fears of conservatives, and is able to fool the overwhelming majority of those that are less educated.

Not saying he will, but what happens if he does what he says?

Imo revoking obamacare and taking care of our borders is enough to make him a worthwhile president. These are two things I'm positive he will accomplish!
If he happens to cut ridiculous spending and endless pumping of money to every Tom dick and Harry in the world, even better!!
Let's start taking care of Americans and not the rest of the world!!

If Donald Trump actually builds more than 100 foot of wall ever I'd be pleasantly surprised, but I wouldn't be surprised if he actually just signed up all the illegals for future citizenship in a disguised plot while pretending to be deporting them soon after or "finding out who these people are" or something of that nature. I hope I'm dead wrong about it, but I'm afraid there's going to be a lot of empty promises and unfulfilled wishes. Also, revoking Obamacare is not just changing the name to Trumpcare which is basically what he's going to do in real life. I will say a couple of positive things about him: He's not a communist and he doesn't hate America. That's progress.

Trump has been in contact with one of my customers about building the wall. This same guy has also helped Trump design some of his towers.

If a wall actually gets built its going to end up being one of the biggest wastes of money that the government has ever done. I can't remember which, but it's either Cruz or Rubio that actually has a feasible plan: give the border patrol more than a shoestring budget and use drones.

I don't see any illegal Mexicans in China...

Well, great news then. I support the wall. It is true that more than the wall itself is required to actually achieve the desired results, but that's a huuge start. However, I'm still worried about the path to citizenship part. Chuck Schumer and Don are besties. There's no way he doesn't throw them a bone somehow.

The Ice wall in GoT's seems pretty effective....with the exception of the undead.

If we start having a problem with illegal undead immigrants we'd need to come up with a new solution I guess.

Is this a book spoiler? I'm like 400 pages away from finishing. :banghead2:

Poor analogy. I don't know of anyone who would want to illegally go into China, plus Mexico does not border China. There a lot of Chinese who would love to leave China for almost anywhere. Anyone who would like to move form the US can do so and they will still be US citizens. Maybe we can go back 3-4000 years and have the Chinese come over and build the great wall of Texas.

I really don't know. Haven't finished the books and have yet to even watch this season of the show.

I probably should have said "with the possible exception of".

Apologies. :hi:

Might want to eat a snickers. Just sayin'.

I'm going to step out on a limb here and say.....I'm pretty sure it was a joke.

Canada is too cold. Bahamas, specifically the Exumas is where it's at.

As far as Cruz and Rubio go, I'd imagine Rubio pulls back ahead moving forward. Cruz was always going to do well in the states with a lot of Evangelicals. Most of those are behind him now.

One of them needs to drop out if someone wants to beat Trump though.

I think Rubio should get out. He's too far behind in delegates. I think it's crazy for the consummate third placer to ask the second placer with twice the delegates to quit. Marco should be the one to fall on his sword. That would in my opinion keep Don from getting enough delegates and push a brokered convention at the very least.
