There is no miracle NIL lmao. This Sphyre company is a damn joke. They tried to sell it on that podcast with VQ but naw player they're still light years away from the rest of the world. It was embarrassing what they came talking about to Zach and other recruits.
Don't entirely disagree - but there was a state law prohibiting it previously and they are probably just getting set up and established. One of the two groups did look like MEH .... the other looked legitimate. I think it's a starting point.
Since the school is supposed to have zero involvement - and in the case of Tennessee that holds true with this AD and coach - there are going to be some stops and starts, some learning curves, etc. There is a balance - some will offer way too much, and get zero return on their investment. My NIL would not be worth much, neither would yours. What commercial value does Zach see himself adding either to this community or to a specific business in this or other communities? Is he going to be here for more than a year, or a year or two. Are you acting as an agent for him or others?
There are so few kids who's NIL actually have much value. Peyton - the QB at LSU when they won the national championship. The current qb at Alabama.
The rest ..... not really that much value. Do the offensive linemen at Texas have great NIL value ? No, not really.
Maybe all your efforts are noble, I don't know you. I just know there are a lot of people that are not looking out for the student athletes, but rather for themselves and either their egos or their pocketbook.
I played collegiate athletics and I think other than a tiny handful of Peytons - the rest of the NIL should be capped. Probably it all should be capped. Once players are receiving values greater than their true NIL value - it's really slippery.
I haven't met a college lineman ever, that I would say his name and likeness are worth probably more than $5000 to $10,000 a year at the most. And someone would have to use him - at a car lot selling cars or selling burgers or something. Same holds true of say Lady Vol soccer or softball players. I know you are not tasked with fixing the system but be aware that it's a completely new and very flawed.
Historically there have been a lot of bad actors in the murky underbelly of quasi advisors/agents out there - I hope you are not one of them or that you do not aspire to be.
Give kids great haircuts, advise them to stay in school, get a good degree, go to the college of their choice and hopefully come back and be a role model for the neighborhood and the community.
Sorry to ramble on - it's a rainy Saturday.
