Recruiting forum off topic thread (no politics, covid, or hot button issues)

What you fail to realize is it's not about you. When someone offers you prayer, whether you believe or not, they are telling you they support you. It's a comfort to them as much as it's meant to be a comfort for you. It's a nicety. It's their way of saying, "I got your back". So when you spit on someone trying to offer you support, YOU look bad. I'm not saying change what you believe, but why be rude to someone offering you kindness? Sometimes it's better to just say "thank you" and feel comfort in knowing you have friends.

But atheists never miss an opportunity to evangelize...

That implies a belief in a higher power, which I don't have. And if there is a God, which is unlikely at best, he/she has some explaining to do for their sick sense of humor.
Oh Dude! While I am also highly skeptical of the existence of God. (Particularly the Abrahamic God) You are about to hear it from the Volnation Evangelical Society.

The vast majority of atheists are in the closet and keep it to themselves. In East Tennessee that kind of proclamation could likely cause you to lose your job, friends, business opportunities. Many (not all) believers want to punish you for publicity proclaiming your unbelief. Not punish you for trying to convince anyone to become an atheist…but punish and attack you just for saying you are one and that you can be a good, patriotic America but also be a skeptic of religion at the same time.

(1) I think you're exaggerating.
(2) Any Christian that would respond that way doesn't read their Bible.

You must live in a different world than I do. That isn't what I see at all. Just hired a guy who left a great career position with one of East Tennessee's biggest employers specifically because of how anti-faith they have become. I can't speak for atheists who are "in the closet", but most of the ones I know that are "out" seem to miss very few opportunities to mock those of faith.

You probably hear a loud minority that doesn't represent "most" skeptics any more than the original claim that E Tennessee is full of raging Christians looking to attack and fire people for not sharing their faith.

Both groups caricaturing the other is disingenuous and a bad look.

Look, I don't care if you do or don't believe in a God, and if you do, which one(s) you do or don't believe in.

Don't be a self-righteous, condescending douchebag to others for their difference of opinion/worship in that department. And if someone gives you well wishes, blessings, prayers, offerings, or good vibes - just take them. They're genuine acts being expressed the way that person knows how/can.

I've sat at the table with Muslims and entered a mosque, I've entered in a Hindu temple, and some of my best friends are Athiests/Agnostics and I've received each's version of prayer/blessings because, despite not agreeing with the theology of any of them, I knew they were expressing honest love for the person beside them the way they do.

TLDR: Stop being dicks. That goes for everyone.

I don’t know man! Be nice to try an experiment. You walk around here with a shirt that says “There is no God” and I’ll walk around with a shirt that “I love Jesus” or “Jesus is the only way” and let’s see who experiences more persecution.

Agree with all of this. DE1 was correct in what Heupel should have told Destin - we have had multiple people try qb and then reposition to other positions and are now or were in the NFL. It is sort of what we do and have done.
Kentucky has had to play receivers at quarterback so they look better on paper for Wade but with the transfer portal - they will no longer be doing that imho. and Destin will be a receiver there or tfr out and be a qb somewhere other than the SEC.

I really like Simpson, what's not to like - including climbing into the stands after state and giving him mom a hug. Seems an all- american kid and a really good athlete and quarterback. I think we likely will finish second in this race to get him - but if Arch Manning is signed by Bama a year from now - all bets are off as to where Simpson ultimately ends up.
If you have too much talent in your qb room and rb room and receiver room - like Georgia and Alabama have had - some great talent will portal just for playing time. It isn't in their best interests as a qb or receiver to sit for a couple years. We will have to see how the domino's fall down the road. Also look for Bama to wait and announce a starter at qb until seconds before the season start.

Great that his is considering us, as he should because of our dynamic offense, great coaches and because we reside just short of Heaven - in East Tennessee vs just short of He// and in the heart of tornado alley and super high humidity in Tuskaloosa.
Isn't Coach Satan about 96 years old now? :) His days are numbered. He needs to stick to Aflac commercials - well maybe not that either.

Are you really trying to tell Heupel how to do his job?

I highly doubt he needs advice from you on how to recruit players for his system.

There is nothing I hate more than a non religious person who acts like a douchbag when someone says “I’ll pray for you”. It makes all non religious people look like assholes. When I hear “I’ll pray for you” I sincerely thank them because I know what is in their heart. it is wanting good things for me.

And this is what started the conversation...

We all believe in 2 miracles. The creation of all matter and the creation of life are 2 great mysteries. You must have faith holding either worldview

That it was created
Or that it popped into existence uncaused

One is more probable than the other

Additionally one worldview is self defeating since there is no objective truth. You could be a pedophile and there would be nothing inherently wrong with it.

Fred Hoyle's Quote On How the Universe Is Made for Life
"A commonsense interpretation of the facts suggests that a superintellect has monkeyed with physics, as well as chemistry and biology, and that there are no blind forces worth speaking about in nature.”

shock and awe most, or sadly all my friends are athiests. in fact outside of my wife cant think of a single one who believes in God, nevermind Jesus as the risen Lord.

True Christianity teaches patience, love, and empathy. We embrace all religions, creeds, etc.
