The fact that it is called the black national anthem is what I am referring to. If it is a song that is uplifting to all then why not call it something that doesn't seem to reserve it for one group of people? If it is supposed to promote unity and harmony, then why not name it something that unites instead of segregates?
If the song is called "Lift Every Voice and Sing", then people should call it that. Not the "black national anthem". If somebody came out with a song and called it the "white national anthem" people's heads would explode.
