No offense but if you’re 18 and looking to go into a career in reporting/journalism you should know better. If I was a public figure I would’ve made sure i scrubbed my social media years ago when this started becoming a thing.
She studied this stuff in school. If she was 12 she definitely gets a pass but I just confirmed she attended UT 2014-2017.
Weed is losing its mystery and appeal for teens here. I’m not saying they won’t dabble, but it’s kind of like Facebook to them..something for the olds.I've lived in Washington State since 2013 so it hasn't been an issue for a long time. I can't even stand visiting a state where it's illegal anymore. I get off the plane like, "damn, they still make places like this?"
Easiest thing to do is don't tweet or insta or any of those types of things and if you do be as benign as one can be. People are watching. The government is watching. (I'm probably on some list ). This is especially true if you if you're counter to mainstream media culture.I get the takes people have that we shouldn’t have to scrub our social media and I agree to an extent, but jeez, it’s just so easy. There are literally websites out there that will delete all of your tweets with the click of a button and other ones that will scrape all of your tweets and search for anything offensive, and then let you individually delete them if found. It’s just so easy to do so that you don’t get into a situation like this one.
To be fair though, the cancel culture power on normal people is fairly new (last 6 years?) I'm sure she didn't remember the tweets.Easiest thing to do is don't tweet or insta or any of those types of things and if you do be as benign as one can be. People are watching. I still don’t even know what she tweeted.
But she was fired from her job, not cast away to an island where she can no longer participate in society.
Problem is people outside of UT/Voltwitter already picked up on it and were tagging other people in it. At that point it can start to hurt recruiting among other things to keep her employed. To be fair though, the cancel culture power on normal people is fairly new (last 6 years?) If I was her boss, I'd talk to her about it, have her scrub it, make an apology post and move on. If the post was recent, then that's a different story.

Nonsense. There are democratic politicians in an all white country club and they still get committee appointments. It'd blow over.Problem is people outside of UT/Voltwitter already picked up on it and were tagging other people in it.
