Most public schools have far more funding than private schools.

Lots of reasons for private school success. Part of it is demographics. Part of it is parental involvement. Part of it is expectations. Part of it is refusal to accept least common denominator.
Class sizes are a lot smaller in private schools as well.

I don't. Public education is a joke. I went to public school k-10th. Straight A's. My dad's business took off , so then I went to a private school. I was so far behind when I thought I would I woukd be among the top of class.
So all American public schools are trash becauss the 1 public school you went to had you behind the private school you went to?

The American public education system is the envy of most of the world. For a long time it was the best in the world.

Having more intensive high school education available at private schools (where they pay a premium for the best teachers) doesn't mean all American public schools are trash. Some are not great. Some are fantastic. Some private school educations are bad. Some are the best. It's all relative.

You are wrong. Private school teachers make less than public school teachers. Lol. Cry more. At least at briarcrest

Idk how to fix it. But I do know, from limited research, public schools in worst performing schools have as much if not more funding than private schools
Edit: I think I might know. Private schools kick out the kids that inhibit learning. Can't do that in public schools
This is true. In a lot of countries that offer public education they also don't require students to attend to 16. You can drop out earlier or be kicked out. Which makes their public education scores higher, but it doesn't include the data from the percent that isn't participating (i.e. survivorship bias).

Ha. Teaching isn't tutoring every single kid intensely. It's providing the support each kid needs to achieve maximum success. Ten kids makes a difference.
I'm lucky enough to have a few classes with 18 kids instead of the standard 24.....those 6 kids makes a WORLD of difference.

So why do so many of the 25 at public schools need more help than the 15? Maybe the public school class has more disruptions from kids that onky want to act a fool. Speaking from experience

See, making a blanket statement based on one data point. Clearly the private schools don't teach Aristotelian logic because you didn't learn it.

(Tongue-in-cheek, don't take that seriously)

Its not that serious. I'm just pointing out that you're taking an absolute stance on something with the bare minimum information. And you're saying everyone else is wrong, their experiences be damned, because you're definitely right. And that doesn't logically hold water.

You can get a fantastic public school education at a lot of places. You can also get a fantastic education at private schools. On average, private schools are better, but not always. Some public schools are borderline delinquent daycares. Some public schools consistently produce some of the best and brightest. To say, "All public schools are trash" is factually incorrect.

I can agree with that. I'm only speaking from my experience.

We are the only country that includes every student in our data. Sped, ell, inclusion doesn't matter they are added to the data. Makes it easy for growth scores but difficult overall scores

I always start off with 18-20 at the beginning of the semester and end up with 22-24 by the end of the semester. They always add students to my worst class also. Sure add the IEP student to my class full of behavior and learning IEPs that's not harmful at all

Funding for public schools is classified as $ per student. So why with all public school funding don't they have more teachers per student?

The worst schools have way more $ per student than some of the best private schools
Money goes to downtown not the schools...

Or to the schools that have money already

After further digging I'll admit by false statement that private schools pay for the best. On average private pays less, its just that the teaching conditions are more favorable than public schools and the benefits/resources are better so teachers take the lower wages. But you can probably earn more as a private school teacher in the long run because they don't really have salary caps whereas public school kinda stagnates raises eventually and you top out.

Couldn’t agree more. But would add, part of it is no teachers union that cares about teachers, but not students.

I think you get what you put into education. I'd put our public school system up against any of the private schools in our area. @Jackcrevol is right. Our local school system is excellent.
i'm so thankful that we have it.

id love to put my oldest in private, but our elementary is like a private. fortunately johnson city decided to take out a $40 mill bond to redo founders park, add on to winged deer, and redo walnut. while the aging schools could use modernization, they have also kept class sizes small.

The added cost of benefits, health insurance, and retirement packages and such. Its more than just the salary they pay out to the teacher obviously. So instead of building a new classroom and hiring a new teacher its "here's more money to educate that student, but we aren't gonna pay you with it."

Oh always. The fluctuation creates a fantastic learning environment too.

Key phrase-for a long time it was the best in the world. The American education is far from the envy of the world now. And typically private school teachers are paid less than public schools. They choose student and parent participation and safety over the money.

The real reason private school teachers work for less than public is. They get a big discount to send thier kids to that school.. ask me how I know!
