Gruden apologized for a 2011 email in which he used racist language to describe DeMaurice Smith.

"Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of Michelin tires."

Realizing the gravity of his error, Gruden did apologize and he tried to spin it as not being a literal description of Smith's lips .... Gruden said that he refers to people who lie as having "rubber lips," and that was where the Michelin tires remark came from.

Nobody has said that it was a hate crime, but it was an incredibly stupid thing to put in an e-mail .... and your comment that, "I'm not racist enough to take offense to that though," is ridiculous.

No, it’s not ridiculous. To think otherwise is idiotic.

You are either obsessed with race - a racist. Or you are not. There is no in between, no matter what you may think about people of differing pigments. You may think of yourself as a good racist and others as evil racists, but if you believe there are different races of people then you are a racist.

Maybe obsessed is a confusing word for you. How about we go with: You believe that yourself and a person of a different pigment are separate races. I do not. Therefore you are a racist and I am not.

Can you add that up?

I know what I am going to say is not totally related to what you are saying here, but I think our country would be better off if both the far left and the far right both tacked towards the center. Historically speaking that’s what has helped propel the country forward.

Maybe the powers that be will eventually get off the pot and legalize psilocybin so folks with PTSD/depression/other mental health challenges can get some lasting/permanent relief. In the meantime, if you happen to live in states where it is legal/tolerated you may want to look into it.

I fully 1000% agree with DUI laws because you are protecting the public from the drinker, and I support the laws that enforce children's safety because they are children and thus they are supposed to be protected from harm by their gaurdians..BUT..forcing a grown person to wear a seat belt to supposedly protect them against their own will is absolutely pure 🦬💩..and I hate it with a passion.

It is absolutely authoritarian and was a sign of bad things to come...and it is getting worse. Perhaps your generation is fine with being forced by Big Brother to do things like that...I am not.

Considering that wearing my seat belt is just plain old good sense and i would do it anyways, it's a little hard to get bent out of shape over it being a law.

If Johnny never has a crash, no cost to the system. If Johnny has an unbelted crash and dies, minimal cost in the form of lost payroll taxes and family financial instability due to lost wages. If he has an otherwise minimal injury (if belted) crash and ends up with devastating chronic injuries - particularly neurologic - then there are the initial costs of complex multiple trauma care, easily into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Once hospital care is done, it's months in acute rehab. If Johnny has a significant neurological injury, society is looking at a lifetime of costs in the many millions of dollars to care for him. This is independent of whether he is insured (raising rates for everyone else in his insurance plan) or uninsured (raising taxes for all).

There is no option in our system for EMS or a hospital to say "well, he wasn't belted" and refuse to render care. Johnny might refuse care with a minor accident, but past a certain point of injury, this is no longer an option. It's another example of privatizing gains (in this case, the minimal gain of not feeling encumbered by a seat belt) and socializing losses. I don't really want to help finance that when it is easily preventable in most cases. As such, I am fine with a slight limitation on Johnny's behavior so that I can keep more of what I earn. Plus, Johnny is probably a decent guy who just had a crappy physics teacher, and I wouldn't be sad to see him walk away from a crash unhurt.

I hate this garbage..it is pure f'n 🦬💩.

I'm more terrified of the government oppressing me than I am of my cholesterol and all the other 🦬💩 these dudes have been in here griping about...they are all fine with the government taking that freedom away too...in the name of "health" and "safety".
