OH wow they escalated that quickly. He started to get out and they drag him out like that? Just ask for license and registration and give him a ticket. Why are they like that?
Not all but it seems like quite a few are on power trips nowadays

Man that one cop needs to go. It's always the short ones too.
Legally he is not required to roll his window down all the way. He had it cracked a few inches which is required. He should not have rolled it up all the way but he then cracked it plenty to exchange documents and interact. These officers will be toast. They escalated unnecessarily.

Some cops have Napoleon complex or just micropeens. A good lawyer will roast a couple of them. Goodbye job.

Yep. All they had to do was ask him to leave the window cracked and provide license and registration. Why all the other nonsense? If you can't handle that miniscule level of beligerence from someone who's pissed off at getting pulled over, you need a different job.

Especially disappointing that none of the others (who seemed to be reasonable and not willing to escalate) told the one trouble maker to chill out.

I mean, just the slightest bit of politeness from the start and it's all avoided. "sir, I need your license and registration. Sorry I tapped so hard on your window, I was just trying to get you to roll it down. Leave it cracked and pass me your documents, and I'll have you put of here as soon as possible."

“They will assume you’re about to attack them” is maybe what’s wrong with that whole tweet. Who in their right mind would believe just because you don’t do what they want that you’re going to be violent? I’m not an anti-police person but that’s the kind of crap that leads to a police state and adversary between public servants and citizens.

The cop who pulled him out of the car has some damn anger issues and needs to not be a cop. Just a cop brutality incident waiting to happen. Yelling the whole time like it was a violent confrontation and it was anything but. Hill should have left his window open but that was completely unnecessary.

Again I’m not anti police, at all, just calling it like I see it here.

It is for safety reasons… There have been multiple times where cops have been shot in situations like this traffic stop… What should the cop have done to get Tyreek to comply?

How does banging on a car and yelling at someone make a cop less likely to get shot? You think escalating makes violence less likely? I know that idiot in the video probably does, but I'd expect most humans to be smarter.

As for how to get him to comply, "sir, please keep your window cracked and pass me your license and registration" would have been a great way to get him to comply. They literally didn't even ask him for documents, kind of seemed like they wanted a fight from the beginning.

The video that I watched earlier…. Tyreek gave them his papers… He started rolling up his window as the cop told him to stop. when he got to the top…. the cop banged on his window yelling to roll it back down or he was going to jail…. a second later… he said screw it and pulled Tyreek out of the car.

I don’t really care that much about this situation… If the cops did something outside of protocol then reprimand them in whatever way is appropriate.

I must have missed where he handed them the documents. If that's the case, there's no reason for the cop to sit there outside his door. Go process the documents, give him a ticket. We've all been pulled over, they don't sit there and make you keep your window rolled down while they wrote your ticket. I've rolled mine up every single time until the cop comes back with my ticket.

I think it was clear that one cop has issues and escalated everything way way beyond where it needed to, and safety had absolutely zero to do with it.

I guess it depends if the officer saying “don’t roll up your window” is a lawful order or not. I can see how from an officers perspective that may feel intimidating but I don’t think it breaks any laws for the driver to refuse generally.

In many states, at a DUI checkpoint, you don’t have to roll down your window even if the officer requests it. Their trick is to say they smell something and you need to step out and then they try to intimidate you into sobriety tests and breathalyzers. In many states at these checkpoints you dont even have to provide ID if they ask for it. Just refuse and stall. Then drive away after they agree to your release. Depends on the state though.

It’s best to politely talk to officers so you don’t escalate things, but certain rights remain for American citizens and I’m thankful for them.

There is too much information missing to know if the cop handled it poorly or if Hill was just being a DA.

That's a rare occurence.
Sure it is...my son in law is a Knox County deputy and it gives me anxiety...I worry about him 24/7.

It's aggravating how people post this sh** everytime there is an incident that makes LEOs look bad...but NEVER post vids of them doing heroic things or getting shot in the line of duty...f'n NEVER.

These guys out there risking their lives trying to protect and serve this f'd up cesspool world full of scumbags every f'n time they go to work...and they mostly just get hate in return.

Sorry...but it's personal with me now.

Law enforcement isn't even in the top 10 most dangerous occupations. Trash collection and automotive mechanics are more dangerous than law enforcement.

No there's not too much info missing, the video is right there. They don't have the right to demand you get out of your vehicle because you rolled up your window at a traffic stop. They definitely don't have the right to drag you out and throw you to the ground because they thought you were leaving your vehicle more slowly than they prefer. The cop was 100% in the wrong. Period.
