Sure it is...my son in law is a Knox County deputy and it gives me anxiety...I worry about him 24/7.

It's aggravating how people post this sh** everytime there is an incident that makes LEOs look bad...but NEVER post vids of them doing heroic things or getting shot in the line of duty...f'n NEVER.

These guys out there risking their lives trying to protect and serve this f'd up cesspool world full of scumbags every f'n time they go to work...and they mostly just get hate in return.

Sorry...but it's personal with me now.
No need to apologize. I’d probably worry too given how public media has reinforced the perception of adversary between law enforcement and citizens. You admitted it’s personal as well, so easy to see why you feel that way. The world view of it being a cesspool full of scumbags probably plays a role too. I’d imagine maybe that’s also personal.

Odds are your son in law will make hundreds if not thousands of stops and potential confrontations and also not encounter any violence and live a long healthy life. If he’s not angrily and intimidatingly engaging people verbally and physically like the cop in the video, he’ll likely be fine.

Be sure to thank him for his service on our behalf. Hopefully he uses his interactions with the public to foster a better image of cops and relationship with the public than that which often shows up on social media and the news.

Law enforcement isn't even in the top 10 most dangerous occupations. Trash collection and automotive mechanics are more dangerous than law enforcement.
Well I can speak from direct local government experience, your public works department carries a bigger insurance risk than the police department.

But all this is splitting hairs. Just be thankful every day for the men and women who put their bodies and lives in harms way to serve us. It doesn’t matter if they’re cutting grass along an interstate or arresting felons.

All serve and do it because they enjoy what they do.

Some are cutting grass and collecting trash. Others are running speed traps to collect revenue.

Just saying.

It is for safety reasons… There have been multiple times where cops have been shot in situations like this traffic stop… What should the cop have done to get Tyreek to comply?
“Multiple”. Just the fact that it’s happened doesn’t make it a likelihood. I understand protocol dictates using a clear voice and to maintain safety of the police officer (and the citizen - I think?), but I don’t think anywhere does it say to use name calling and threats of violence to someone who is not engaging you in a violent manner. The use of force continuum is a thing. Deescalation should always be the first priority.

What should the cop have done… I dunno, maybe peacefully wait for the citizen to engage in converstion. Who cares if it’s a waste of time. Not like he’s going anywhere while stopped by police. And if he does, they follow him. Maybe Hill was being a DA, maybe he just didn’t realize what was happening or how he’s supposed to act in that situation. Most of us are not coached how to act so as not receive unwanted treatment from police officers, and we shouldn’t have to be! because it’s not assumed that we’ve done anything wrong and that a police officer is a threat (though maybe it’s possible the experience is different for some people?).

I think most people, albeit maybe without some necessary context, would watch that video and say damn that escalated quickly for no apparent reason.

Just fyi, but these are all over the place. The Police Activity channel on YT routinely has them, as well as the bad ones and news articles have them all the time, also in addition to the bad ones.

1. Just follow commands unless they are egregious
2.. It’s impossible to judge those situations sitting from our couch…. We don’t have any fear, adrenaline or anything else happening
3. An Atlanta pastor was protesting the police wanting them to choose other alternatives. They invited him to go through training of real events that had occurred. In the beginning…. He was hesitant to shoot but by the end of the training… he was running with the gun pointing behind him shooting at will… He said that he gave him a brand new respect for what cops go through and it wasn’t even real.
4. How long do you want cops to wait calmly for someone to have a conversation?
5. I don’t defend cops that are bad and the bad ones should be punished. I also understand that have an extremely difficult job to do. They don’t know who or what they will encounter when they pull someone over. That is why we have tint laws and they don’t want any sudden movements. It is also why other people approaching the scene makes it even more dangerous

Here is an example of what can happen…

Even if you only refuse to follow egregious commands, that will rarely result in a good outcome for you.

While I agree with most things here, it is not a law to have your window fully rolled down. They have no right to drag you out for that.

That one cop went on a complete power trip and he deserves to be fired. You don’t see the other cops acting a complete fool, so why are you giving that guy a pass?

Cops pretty commonly get passes for ****ty behavior lol

I’m not giving anyone a pass and stated that he should be punished if he didn’t follow protocol.Ordering someone to keep their window down is considered a lawful order.

The real problem with police officers in this country is you have individuals doing this job that aren't qualified to do it. They only do it because of the illusion that it gives them power over others, and that isn't the way this job should be done. I'm employed by a local government where I deal with officers on a daily bases, and 80 percent of them are a-holes. I don't want them to be killed or even injured on the job by no means, but I would bet the majority of the time that the ones who are killed or injured are part of that 80 percent I mentioned.

He did roll it down, following the order. He just didn’t roll it ALL the way down. there’s a distinct difference between the two

My Son in law is an absolutely awesome human being, I love the guy...I couldn't have handpicked a better man to marry my daughter.

He is a far better man than me...or at least the man I was at his age.

Ok...my point was nobody ever posts those here....never.

But I don't want to get pissed off again and make even more enemies...so...ok.

cmon man. try to see things from different vantage points, even engage in dialogue with fascists routinely.

I dont think trash collectors or auto mechanics go work fearing a guy driving down road shooting an automatic pistol, then backing up to run them over, and shooting head shots to make sure its done.

unless there's a recent spate of trash collector on auto mechanic crime i'm unaware of.

We're just out here calling balls and strikes. I see a lot of good guy cop videos online too. Plenty of good and plenty of bad. When cops misbehave, there is absolutely nothing wrong with letting them have it in the court of public opinion.

in the video i saw…. tyreek rolled it down…. gave his papers to the cop…. then rolled his window back up…. the cop was telling him to keep it down(assuming bc his windows are tinted)…. Cop threatened to arrest Hill and banged on his window. ( not sure if Hill said anything from his car)… a second later the cop drug him out of the car and detained him.

They also tell you to keep it down this because it makes it easier to smell Marijuana or alcohol and give PC to search a vehicle.

I agree with you in your overall point but....automatic pistol?
