This one is shaping up nicely. Saban has been preparing for months for a team that is hardly recognizable from last year's team and is nevertheless successful even if not perfect. Saban's mood seems lethargic while Heupel seems relaxed and focused. The mindset of the Vols should be good and they have shown themselves to be capable of winning.

Nothing is given but I like where the Vols stand.

so, i'm not so confident this week, and i'm going to predict Bama wins.

but, i'm not really upset about it...and i think it's because i know we CAN win this game. we're capable of winning of this game....and outside last year and this year, it's been a long time since i haven't just penciled an "L" next to this game.

and i take last week and will use that as evidence of why i think we can win pretty much any game we play....outside the penalties and mistakes, i was very impressed we were able to out-physical the supposed more physical team....and that our defense stood up nearly every time it was asked to do so.

that all said...the biggest problem i have with this game is that until we prove we're not one dimensional, we're one dimensional....and the play calling late last week tells me they're not confident in Joe right now.

i don't think the margin for error is all that wide for either team, but i think ours is more narrow than Bama's, simply because they've at least shown they can throw the ball down field and and it may only take a play or 2 in this game to put it out of reach for us.

sprinkle some bryant-denny officiating, considering the amount penalties we've committed this year...and it's a tall task.

I am kinda thinking 27-21 Vols. Need at least +200 yards out of Milton, I think 50 on the ground could go a long way to helping us. making them account for the QB run should help our RBs as long as we aren't obvious with it. hopefully helps the passing game too.

also need to keep the penalties under 70 yards to have a chance, can't give the refs any easy, read ACTUAL, penalties to call.

If we are going to win this game, we will need to see the best game we’ve had yet this year through the air. Bama has a good run defense and will sell out stopping the run, pair that with their explosive offense. And don’t get me started on how bad the officiating will be Saturday. Until Milton can prove he can win us a game through the air, I dont see us winning a game like this.

Depends on how you view explosive. They are one of the better teams at completing long passes down the field. There are lots of people that would define that as explosive. What they are not great at is running the ball or intermediate passes. That hurts the consistency of their offense. But they do well with explosive plays.

I guess so, but I think of explosive as scoring a lot of points or scoring in bunches. Gumps struggle to score much of the time.
