‘23 Recruiting Forum: Official Alabama Pregame/Game Thread

I guess so, but I think of explosive as scoring a lot of points or scoring in bunches. Gumps struggle to score much of the time.
If a team picked up 4-6 yards on every play. Never more. Never less. At the end of the game, they would have scored a lot of points. Would you use the word explosive when you describe that offense?

We can beat AL. The difficult part will be beating the zebras. We'll need the performance equivalent of a 3 or 4 TD win in order to stay in this game with Birmingham's crooked refs fighting to the death. We did this last week! I think our guys just keep pushing ahead, through the rigged flags and no calls, and finally show themselves too stubborn to be denied by the Birmingham crew. Bama is less important than zebras, in the final analysis. This win is all about converting all the do-over, fighting through holds and PI, and finding a way to get pressure when Bama's OL is allowed to hold all night.

Vols 42
(Zebras -18)
= 24

(Zebras +10)
= 20
I think you did an excellent job calculating the officiation coefficients.

They have an explosive offense?
Their QB avg’s 16.32 yards per completion, and against arkansas he only completed 10 passes but had 238 yards, so he averaged 23.8 yards per completion against arky. Seems pretty explosive to me

Only one of those passes wasn't because of a busted coverage. Had one deep sideline pass that Burton caught with a guy all over him.

The other big plays were WR's running wide open because an Ark db goofed

Oddly enough our DB's haven't had laspes like that this year so if they have any explosive plays against us it will likely be because they earn it.

If they even have time for any of those plays to develop...

People keep acting like rigged officiating didn't cost us two touchdowns in the first alone last week. (I ran out of patience tallying them all after that.)

Beginning with GA last year, the modus was established and then imitated: Intentionally foul Vol WRs every down and the Birmingham Office's officiating and review crews will deliberately turn a blind eye.

This was the solution devised after Heup destroyed Saban's defense. And Saban's specialty is DBs. The key to that game was that a couple of times they actually called PI on Bama in flagrant cases. They did not call offensive PI on Bama on one of Bama's TDs (when the Bama WR pulled the Vol defender down to the ground by the back of his jersey); otherwise the game would not have been as close last year.
It's very impressive in a way that you believe the refs are good for like 20+ point swings (lol) and still manage to watch the games.

Are you a big WWE fan as well?

To me, the game comes down to the mental approach of the Vols.

Do we walk into Bryant-Denny like we did the Swamp?

Or…

Do we show up with a walk into yo trap, take over yo trap mentality?

I hope we play loose and aren’t scared of losing.
Play like all the pressure is on Bama, because it really is.

We aren’t supposed to win, but we are more than capable.

I’ll say this, it’s nice to be on the eve of this game and feel like we have more than a freakish punchers chance with our roster compared to theirs.

Heupel and co. have gotten us to the point where only a couple teams on the schedule have more talent, and it may only be one team with more talent.

I’m not talking about recruiting rankings.
I’m talking about on the field, physical capability that’s been developed.

Yep, we're pretty evenly matched. If it were at home I'd pick us to win for sure

We haven't shown up well on the road this year or last. Tough to pick us with that in mind. Close game, but I think our defense gets worn down and gives up some late scores that our offense won't be able to answer.

Here's to hoping Clemson Milton shows up.
I’ve I had to make a prediction with big money on it, I would say something g to the effect of 31-20 Bama with a mid-4th quarter score that kinda seals the game.

But because of how we have been on the LOS the last two weeks, if we win the LOS, the odds are good.

Good news is. . . we've only had 1 road game this year.
