Why be such a prick?

Why be such a downer? Anyway, don't mind me. You have sharp observations. My point is while we might loose some ground in the polls, the teams destiny in their hands and there's a lot of football to play including playing to win the East and more.

We know this team has more in them than what they showed tonight. Good question though.

If I told you guys Tennessee would go 12-0, but every game (including the Ohio and Tennessee Tech games) was won by one point. Would you guys be happy or mad about that?

I would take it!!! But not gonna happen our oc and qb are not good enough for that!

Good gosh dude.....just go to bed and sleep it off.

?? I'm not mad. Just pointing out what I think are a couple of bad and a couple of good assessments. Do you realize you're on a message board?

Didn't mean to be a downer. You guys think tonight's performance doesn't matter. Rankings are somewhat subjective, so I think it matters. And I think it will be a topic of much discussion all week leading up to Bristol. I'm glad for the win, but I think the perception of UT has changed. We can disagree. That's cool.

Some positives:

We won.

The defense played well after halftime, for the most part. Shoop made some good adjustments.

Cortez McDowell got thrown in the fire after JRM was ejected. He held his own.

Sutton is back. The entire secondary was terrific tonight - shut down the passing game while also making several plays in the running game. Shoutout to Abernathy for playing his ass off in his first start.

For all of the criticism he gets here, we don't win this game without Josh Malone. He had a key third-down catch and the score on our only TD drive in regulation. I'd hope for a more consistent performance from him going forward, but he made some big plays tonight.

If the coaches take just one thing from watching this film, I hope it's that Wolf is a hell of a threat in the passing game. You want to keep the LBs from keying on Hurd and Dobbs? Burn them a few more times with Wolf over the middle.

We won.

The comment you made was to him leaving it on the field. He was trying to make a play. You made a stupid comment. End of story.

I'm already wanting to go back and rewatch the entire game. Maybe tomorrow. Hopefully Freak uploads it to YouTube soon. Eager to see how bad our guys got beat in the trenches on a second viewing.

CBJ said their DL was quicker and lighter and ran a scheme that was hard to defend against. That was just a disaster all night. On the other side I feel like the DL and Shoop settled in late in game

LOL. Wanna bet? It will be discussed all week leading up to Bristol. On Gameday. On SEC Nation. By callers from at least 10 states on Finebaum.

This would be true if the weekend wasn't absolutely loaded with huge games.

As it is, it'll be met with a collective shrug. If it's a major storyline by 11pm Saturday night...then something went bad wrong on Saturday.

Sure, it'll come up next week before Bristol, but it's not like the narrative wasn't already "How over hyped is TN..."

Absolutely none of Tennessee's goals are off the table. None. This game only hurts you if you let it beat you later.

-Dobbs made an uncharacteristically stupid decision and threw away a scoring opportunity.

-The OL played well under its potential.

1. I'm not sure I'd call Dobbs' pass "uncharacteristally" bad. We saw him make plenty of bad throws like that last year, but he usually had it bounce his way and not get picked.

2. The OL was very bad pass blocking and it had an effect on Dobbs' ability to pass (just like it did last year).

I mean he would've gave come close to getting in. But we should've just sneaked it in on second down.

We just can't run shotgun handoffs/zone reads on the freaking one yard line. Sneak it like you said, or do a quick power run with Jalen with a full head of steam.

Hurd got the td, Dobbs almost fumbled the game away.

We are now one for two reaching for the endzone in OT. I don't like putting that ball out there unprotected. He was giving it his all, but that was not the best decision in the world. It would have been a FG, almost definitely, had he not reached, though. Then, maybe Appy tries a FG and we play another OT. Anyway, it worked out. I agree it was not the best decision right there.

For the first game in a very long time, I did what I said I would do every game this season, try to sit down and enjoy every moment of what we hope is a great season. I got mildly upset only a couple of times (if you know me, that's not close to my nature when watching the Vols play). I celebrated hard when Malone scored. For the most part I remained calm. It makes games like this much easier to deal with afterwards. I hope to try to do this every game, although it may be harder against our rivals.

I hope this is exactly what this team needed to make them realize you have to take every single game serious, no matter the opponent or you could lose. We know that we are much better than this. Time to put our heads down and start grinding, and stop listening to the media, fans, etc, no matter if the hype builds again after a few wins, or if we get trashed for this game and how flat we played.

Disagree about our coaches looking ahead. We've had 8 months to get ready. No way I'm buying that.

The rest is spot on. Especially the bad breaks. Preston had a TD, Sutton flipped momentum badly, JRM going out was killer and that TD pass they had was pure luck on a well defended play. All of those things gave app state juice.

I would add that review on the josh smith catch was crucial too. We seemed to have some momentum gathering at that point and that killed it.

I just don't understand replay. I thought it was supposed to take out some subjectiveness, but I guess it can't. I know a few on here disagree, but even the front angle was not totally "conclusive." It just wasn't. Jesse Palmer even had some question about it. He said the ball can touch the ground as long as you have control. Once they called it a catch, I just didn't think it was conclusive.
