Recruiting Forum: Official Arkansas Pre-Game/Game Thread

The "lost interest" stuff doesn't compute with me. They played hard and got whipped by a more physical team. I didn't see quitting or slacking.

I hope he hasn't lost the team. However, the commentators statements early in the game about Butch having to defend himself to te team after the Florida game were VERY concerning. It sounded like outsiders are starting to have the ears of players more than the staff. I hope that's not the case...

Butch works hard and wants to succeed here, but sometimes, people just aren't good enough. There aren't that many elite coaches, and Butch wasn't ready for this job.

I think we'll clean house next year-- new AD, new HC, all new staff. I just wonder how much damage has been done with players and recruits.
Next year? You mean after next season?

@Vol_Football: JONES: For this team to win, our margin of error is very small.

Dooleyesque quote. Pretty much saying the players suck

No, it's not! It's small because we install game plans that make our players play tight, because our head coach is tight. Where was the read option with Dobbs keeping the ball tonight? He destroyed a very good Florida front. That IS our identity this year...run the football! Mix some pass in at times, but run the football. We completely abandoned that in the 2nd half tonight. Why do we never call play action passes? We have set it up all year yet never call it.

One other thing...UGA will come in mad next week after being embarrassed today. If they hit us in the mouth early, we may get blown out of the stadium the way they did by Bama today.

Butch talking about depth issues in his presser. I know it sounds like an excuse but we all knew coming in that we would need a relatively healthy season to make waves.

At this point, I have finally come to believe like many of you that something in the way Azzani coaches or in how we work our receivers causes an inordinate amount of injuries. It my not be Azzani...it may be Butch's system.

Yes. They won't make changes until after the 2016 season, when Dooley's buyout is satisfied. IDK what will happen if we just totally collapse this year and lose the next three in a row. We've got problems. Big problems.

For a team that prides itself in conditioning we sure have looked gassed in the 4th quarter of our 3 big games...what is that?

There is zero chance we beat GA or Bama. KY is next and it will be a fight in Lexington. We struggle many times in Lexington regardless of talent gap.

The team that played today could lose every game on the schedule except N. Texas. It's not about talent. They just mentally shut down today. The team lacks strong leaders, and Dobbs isn't clutch anymore. I hope we can bring in some former players to talk to the team without the coaches present. May not help, but it couldn't hurt.

Don't know the answer, bud. One thing that I do know is a lot of these guys have been part of some tough, tough losses...gut-wrenchers. 2 already this year and then tonight. Florida last year. UGA and Vandy the year before. Just some bad beats. Makes you start thinking that is how all the close games will turn out. We need strong-minded guys to go out and make the plays. Never thought I would see a Butch-led team look like they lost interest. Scary thought with 7 games to go. This could get really ugly if something doesn't change soon.

There are SEVEN games left?

I think I am more mad about this loss than Oklahoma and Florida because the team just looked like they didn't care and that's concerning and unacceptable. And we fans are expected to keep shelling out the money and keep supporting- what the hell do we get in return? Hope to hell Eazy and some in FF are saying also about Harts days being numbered please let that be! This offense is horrendous!!!!:

Man I didn't think we played that bad. We tried to take shots on offense but just couldn't connect. The problem was we couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs. Arkansas played their game and wore our defense down to a pulp late in that game. Our defense hung in there and kept giving us another chance.

You would like to think we could just get the ball down the field and score late in the game. But it's tough. Arkansas put so much pressure on us to score every time we got the ball late cause they kept running so much clock. It felt like we may never get it back. Hats off to them. They dictated the pace and beat us. Dobbs wasn't very impressive. Would have liked to see him come up a little bigger at the end.

It was odd to see him take so many shots deep at the end. I felt like that whole game they really struggled to stop the underneath stuff. We could have just dinked and dunked and taken what they gave us. Oh well. Hindsight is 20/20.

I'm not that down on the coaches necessarily. I just think we aren't that good yet. Hopefully we'll get there.

This whole idea that we were supposed to win 10 games or whatever is nonsense. We certainly could have and it sucks to lose so many heartbreakers. But this is the SEC and half the battle is competing. We weren't doing that a couple years ago. Every team in this conference is scratching and clawing trying to get a win every week. Our time will come. We just haven't made the plays we needed to down the stretch. This really may have been more of a rebuilding year than any of us considered. Sucks. But I'm still kinda hopeful for the future for some reason. We're gonna be in games and we're gonna still have a chance to win some big ones. Whether that's with Butch or not, I don't know. Don't even really care that much. It will work itself out and we'll come back around.

Tough year though.

Beat Georgia!

This is an unmitigated disaster.

This coaching staff as a whole sucks. Lead by the head man. He continues to sell us to trust the process and that the squad gotta learn to win. MFER how bout you learn to win
This is an illiterate adult trying to teach a 1st grader how to read.

Ain't beat No one, Nowhere mannnn
I'm beyond upset.

Another great showing heh!!
I don't know how anyone can defend anyone or anything involved with this football program

...Travis Stephens said after Florida the team was on the verge of packing it in and it looks like they have.

Why do we always have such mentally fragile teams? Other teams dig deep and tough it out. Why can't we?

Just like any team, business, organization, it trickles down from the top.
If You have scared , confused leaders, what do you think the subordinates will be...

Team is done playing for an idiot. I'm waiting for the Athletic department to spend money on an actual coach. Fire this dude while talent is on the team. Go after a big name and spend the cash. Wins will pay for the contract.
