I watch a lot of college and pro football. That's pretty rare. Usually QB is on the balls of his feet, feet apart, not flat footed feet together. Maybe Heupel coaches that, but I'd be shocked if he abandons the fundamentals that pretty much every other QB in every level of football uses.I think it’s taught that way. All the QBs do that in the practice vids.
I was impressed with the job Banks did with the defense tonight. Even when BG adjusted and started having success in the second quarter, we still kept them out of the red zone for long FG’s, then never let them threaten in the second half. They very much held up their end tonight and once we get Byron Young back they’ll be that much better.they clearly did. BG was hitting the boundary constantly in the 2Q, we shut that down in the 2nd half, and they didn't move the ball again. That's coaching
Then what if BG’s advantage in the second quarter wasn’t coaching, just better execution?Well what adjustments did we make? Sure we played better than the 2nd Qtr defensively but was it because of coaching adjustments or players just executing better? Did we have a different defensive scheme in the 2nd half?
The announcers actually showed, literally drew it onscreen what Heupel did to adjust in the running game after half..they were stopping it second quarter, but got steamrolled the rest of the game. That was brilliant coaching. That was ridiculously obvious but there’s no talking sense into some people.. not worth the energy.
If you couldn’t see how we addressed the issues we were having in the 2nd quarter defensively, then idk what to tell youWell what adjustments did we make? Sure we played better than the 2nd Qtr defensively but was it because of coaching adjustments or players just executing better? Did we have a different defensive scheme in the 2nd half?
I would pump the breaks on the Dline being elite. It was BG. They started a true Fr center, have multiple guys on Oline that weigh less than 275 and had 4 under classmen out there. Showed potential? AbsolutelyI know our DL is borderline elite. And Theo Jackson is a manimal. And our RBs are really good. I’m still scratching my head at our pass play calling and the drops.
What jumps off the page is 60 some odd yards rushing before netting out sacks and 2 rushing touchdowns.Milton looks good on paper, but in game, nothing jumps off the page.
I was always sceptical that he was/is as good as he was getting hyped up to be. Hopefully he makes improvement as the season goes. UT needs better QB and WR play against other SEC teams.
Overall, I’m happy with the performance. We looked much cleaner and prepared than any first game under Pruitt
