I was thinking this during Florida's last series.
I know fans are frustrated, but Neyland doesn't sound all that loud right now.

From a TV standpoint at least.

The defense is playing well, but these last two games, they aren't playing elite. What they are getting is very timely stops and frankly luck.

Which, ya know, a good defense should be a playoff ticket with Heupel.

I think I owe Milton an apology. And not from the perspective of hating on Nico. We have bigger offensive problems than personnel. Things have changed since 2022 in terms of what we're doing schematically and how other teams are playing us.

I was all too eager to place the blame on Milton for the lackluster 2023 offense. It looks like the problems run much deeper than that.

12 worked against NC State. He has only used it sparingly against Arkansas and Florida.

I’m here. The crowd gets loud when the team gives them something to get loud about. I don’t fault the crowd for the tension in here. Every time we do something good we ruin it 3-4 plays later.

At the same time, ****, two guys running butt naked open. Nico could have put either of those a yard behind and it's a huge play, puts it on the money it's a TD. Can't be overthrowing the ball when your guy has 3 steps.

I get it, I really do. But this isn’t your daddy’s CFB. He’s the $8m man, this isn’t acceptable. Folks have every right to be upset. If this were the last I would be all in agreement with your take. And it isn’t just Nico, CJH sold the collective on this, he should have had him ready too.

Im not saying you can’t criticize the kid, you certainly can, those were two bad misses for TDs. And yes it’s not acceptable. However it’s just too early too write him off 100% especially with the oline doing him no favors most of the first half. Gaston Moore, love the kid, and I get the thought “how can it get worse” but yeah I don’t think throwing Nico away for probably no improvement is the right call right now or maybe anytime this season. If he was an upper class man I’d be screaming the loudest. You can ruin a kids whole career if you throw him away too early. It’s a fought spot as a coach. I wish I had better answers, I knew Nico would struggle at times this year, but never thought he would to this level by any means.
