I would have ran the ball. Probably would have tried at least one designed QB run as I think that would have picked us up a 1st, but you definitely run in that situation. You absolutely have to choke away all of UGAs TO in that scenario. Passing doesn't guarantee a 1st, but does guarantee UGA has 2-3 TOS left if they get the ball back.
You can play "to win", but I'll play smart.
I was at the game and left after getting down 17. Again, we won because of me.
I'm not so sure that you are telling the truth, Cat, about going to these games and leaving when we get down big. I'm thinking you have never gone to any of these games you said you went to. Next time you "go to a game", post some pics of your view from your seat. I don't think any fan willing to spend the money to go to one of these big games, would waste their money by leaving so early.
For those of you already rewatching the game- did Buchanan start? I only remember seeing Foreman most of the time. LB play nearly killed us today for sure. If someone had told me prior to the season that we would be 5-0 having been behind by as much as 21 points, 17 points and 14 points in every game making boneheaded mistakes and costly turnovers AND be without Sutton, Maybin, Kirkland, Hall until last week and others I would have never believed it.
Still two things that are really bothering me:
And Two: the horrible conservative play calling at the end of the game going 3 and out giving UGA a chance. You don't coach like that. Play to win. If they don't get the ball they can't win. Come on Butch. Play to win.
You got lucky today.
What would you have him do? You certainly don't throw and save time for GA. What he did was absolutely the right way to play it. Riverboat gamblers as coaches don't last.
We made 0 effort to get a first down. You can run it 3 times and still try to get a first down.
