'18 Recruiting Forum: Official South Carolina Pre-Game/Game Thread

He makes it and you and everyone else is kissing his butt. The only thing that makes it a bad call is that it didn't work. There were several good and obvious reasons to go for it. It is an aggresive high risk/high reward play. The FG is not a given, and if it was missed, the same aholes would be bitching at JP for not having the balls to go for it.
This!

not a single penalty on SC the entire night... no call fumble on the goal line that cost us a TD... we lost by 3... every call in the book thrown at us... hopefully we don't give up because we won this game and we can win 2-3 more if we play like this without the refs screwing us.

Who's excusing it? It's inexcusable. Pruitt should send it in, and the refs should be suspended. But he won't and they won't.

You know what else is inexcusable? Five offside penalties on our incompetent O-line and two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties against two team leaders-- both after the play was over and both very costly. Undisciplined players, mental mistakes and blown assignments-- that's inexcusable, too. It's not like SCAR put the game out of reach. The Vols just failed to finish.

I don’t disagree that we have to be more disciplined but we both of those “unsportsmanlike” penalties were questionable too. We got the opposite of the benefit of the doubt all night.

Nah, this game was set up worse for Tennessee than any game remaining on the schedule.
No way we beat KY. SC is not really all that good at running the football and they made us look like a division two foe in the second half. KY will run it down our throats so bad that their helmets will protrude from our anus.

Mizzou will expose this D both with the run and pass. We'll obviously beat Charlotte and Vandy will be a 50/50 game.

I think the staff has some growing up to do too. Jimmy's and Joe's are the biggest part of success.
Agreed. This staff is still experiencing a lot of firsts, but I think we've got a lot of good football minds on our staff. Just gotta hope they can learn and improve as time goes on. Getting more of their own guys will definitely help.

Man am I worried about next defensively, though. The defense took a step back this week, especially up front. We couldn't defend the edge at all. DE, DT, and OLB will be huge question marks moving forward. I'm not sure we have too many guys committed who are instant impact guys and Butch and co left us super thin on the DL.

Pretty in depth description but I think it's very accurate.

I don't disagree. Run 'em til they puke, then run them some more, IMO.

Only...IF...armchair bitching is fun isnt it?

I was just surprised that he went for it cause to me it was the natural thing to do with the kicker we have and no he could have missed it. Just saying that was the only thing that I disagreed with but its not a tar and feather thing because he did different than I would have.

That's what I cling to. Take out the Florida and Bama games and I think we've seen a lot of improvement from this staff.

That's reasonable.

I was extremely disappointed in the D. Huge regression.

I would have said Auburn was near a sure loss.

I think they are all close enough to call them tossups. Slight edge to Missouri and Kentucky, but I think they can split those. Maybe.

I can see your defensive skepticism after that second half.

The call on JJ wasn't questionable, it was obvious.
